Please Don’t Keep Me a Secret!
Nancy’s Network A Letter From My Heart
November was an unusual month for me with the first half organizing my real estate business and plans
for my replacement in my Rotary Club job. Then I needed to get ready to leave town with all my
paperwork, including materials for getting my taxes done during my absence.
A special family event with Tyler’s family was attending my granddaughter Sydney’s belated graduation
party in their new home. She had graduated from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa with a degree in
graphic design which she is using in her job with Sofia's Cookies in Deephaven Court.. In addition to this
real time weekday job, she has been busy with her photography business which is featured in this issue
along with her website.
The last half of November was spent in Steamboat Springs, CO. It was wonderful to have my youngest
son, Gardner, pick me up at the Denver airport. I was able to have some good catch up news about all
the activities of his family. He dropped me off at Lane’s Multiple Sclerosis office where I got to meet
some of her associates and her boss. Then the three hour drive to Steamboat was more time for catch-
ing up in person with all her activities. She works in Denver from Monday morning through Thursday
and makes the three hour drive back and forth to Steamboat. Hopefully, she will be able to get some
virtual time in at home, especially during the holidays.
Our Thanksgiving was quiet this year with Lane, Michael, 7 year old Sal, and Franny (a family friend)
but the turkey and trimmings were as good as ever, and we all continue to be thankful for our blessings.
I woke up to sunshine on Dec. 3rd and a nice coating of snow all over the ground and the branches of
the trees and bushes. It’s beginning to look a lot like the White Christmas that I truly have loved for
every one of my 80 years except one in Summerville, South Carolina. Blake will be here with us for five
days as usual, and that will be wonderful. I will miss Tyler and Gardner’s families. I’m sure all my
friends will be grateful for their families and friends as I am.
Happy, healthy holidays to you all. Nancy

Motivational speaker Jim Carroll says those looking for
insights from a true master of leadership, creativity, and
innovation should look no further than Santa Claus.
Here’s what we can learn from Old Saint Nick:
1. He’s aware. He sees you when you’re sleeping. He
knows when you’re awake. For goodness sake!
2. He’s organized. He’s got a list. He checks it twice.
3. He knows exactly what the customer wants. He re-
ceived and read your letter. He excels at keeping up
with constantly changing customer demands.
4. He’s not afraid of hiring those who are different:
Rudolph. Red Nosed. Reindeer. Enough said.
5. He inspires his staff with a singular mission. They
fulfill their duty with passion and a smile. They wear
cool hats to remind them they’re on a team. They’re
often known for singing while they work.
6. He has integrity as a core virtue. His leadership core is
based on knowing who’s naughty and who’s nice.

Hungry for a quick snack? Nuts are tasty, convenient, and healthy.
Their fiber and unsaturated fats can help lower LDL (“bad choles-
terol”) levels, and contain omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E, both
good for the heart.
Just choose wisely. Although all nuts have health benefits, they’re
best eaten raw or dry-roasted, not covered with chocolate, salt, or
sugar. Here’s the breakdown on some of the most popular nuts
(roasted, serving size 1 ounce):
Pistachios: 161 calories; 12.7 grams of fat (1.6 g saturated vs.
10.5 g unsaturated)
Peanuts: 166 calories; 14 grams of fat (2 g vs.
11.4 g)
Cashews: 163 calories; 13.1 grams of fat (2.6 g
vs. 10 g)
Almonds: 169 calories; 15 grams of fat (1.1 g
vs. 12.9 g)

Santa’s Business Model Home buyers entered more contracts and homeown-ers listed more properties than during the same week of 2011. As a whole, 2012 is shaping up to be quite the pivotal year for housing. With 2013 right around the cor-ner, the smart money is monitoring seller concessions, market times, absorption rates and, of course, home prices.
The genius money is watching foreclosure listing and sales volumes, delinquency rates and showing activity.
In the Twin Cities region, for the week ending November 24:
• New Listings increased 0.7% to 607 • Pending Sales increased 12.8% to 608 • Inventory decreased 28.8% to 14,546
