Welcome to Week 4. We have already had a very busy term

and the classes are buzzing along with lots of exciting learning

happening.

What a wonderful presentation we had on Friday when we

had a number of dignatries in our school to award Lincoln

Chambers with the Premiers Award for Excellence.

Congratulations Lincoln, we look forward to seeing what you

can achieve this year and into the future. District Swimming and MNC Swimming carnivals are on next

week. It is very important that notes are returned

immediately as these carnivals are a very short turn around

for organisational purposes. Private transport is required for

these carnivals but if you are having difficulties, please let us

know as other parents often offer to assist. Mr Mitchell will

be attending both of these carnivals so please have students

see him with any concerns. He will be allocated a job on the

day however he is present if needed.

Congratulations to our 2019 P&C committee. It was very

pleasing to see so many people stepping forward to join the

valuable team that we had in 2018. I’d like to thank Bec Whiley who was our president in 2018 who has been on the

committee in different capacities for a number of years. I look forward to working along side this new team to

achieve their goals for the students in our school.

Fundraising for Cooper.

Lots of people know the Hill family, and Cooper’s battle in hospital. We will be running fundraisers each term to

assist the Hill family in a little way. This term the prizes are; a scooter and a skate board. Tickets are $1 each and

extra books can be collected from the office when a sold book is returned with the money. There is no student ticket

selling prize as this is about our students giving back to one of their own in need.

In addition to a fundraising event, we are also collecting plastic and glass bottles to take in to the recycling centre to

raise money. If you are interested in donating either the bottles or money from collecting bottles, please contact Mr

Hade at school and he will let you know when he is taking bottles in. Please note, do not just drop bottles at school

anytime. Mr Hade will have a collection week and will put a plan in the calendar above. The first drop off dates are:

This week: Thursday 21 February and Friday 22 February before school from 8:15am – 9:30am and in the

afternoon from 3pm- 4pm in the afternoon.

In addition, I have been asked, “Can parents make a donation, if they like?” As the SRC are going to be responsible

for this fundraising, donations can be made to the school, for the Hill family. These donations need to come in, in

cash, and not through POP payments as the money does not belong to the school.

I have been asked to thank everyone from the Hill family. They have been very overwhelmed by the support,

messages and generosity to assist their family. They sincerely appreciate everyone and can’t thank you all enough.

The Staff have also joined the March Charge Fundraiser for Cancer Council where they need to walk 70km each in

March and raise money for Cancer research. We felt it was also our way to try to support the research so that, just

maybe, we didn’t see Cancer anymore. We have put the link on the school FB page, but if parents and community

members are keen to join our team, we would be happy to open this up to the Nana Glen Community. Please let me

know.

Thank you to parents who have already paid their fees and other items such as the Learning Journal and K-2 Reading

Log. These payments can be made directly to the office or through the school POP process on the school Website.

Have a great week!

Mrs D Nicholls

What’s going well in class 2/3 Welcome back students and parents to another fantastic year at NGPS. Our class is already deep into our learning for

the term and students are thoroughly enjoying our new topics being covered this term. We have a a great group of

students this year who have already demonstrated their eagerness to learn. You may have noticed your child paying

extra attention to the weather on the news as we are researching extreme weather and natural disasters this term

for writing. Plesae encourage you child to watch the weather report as we already have been having very interesting

discussions in class on recent weather in Australia. I encourage students to engage in home reading and keep logging

their reads so they can be rewarded on their achievements in the Reading Bug Club. Miss Seymour

Learning Journals / Reading Diaries / School Fees Parents will have received an invoice for school fees and a Wellbeing Learning Journal for all students K-6. A Reading

Log was purchased for classes K-2. If these payments could be made as soon as possible to support the school and

these important programs. Payments can be sent into the office or through POP on our website. Thank you for your

assistance with these items.
