Message from Nancy Lieberman

The Nancy Lieberman Charities was formed in 2009, with the vision of changing the lives of disadvantaged children. Our goal is to help guide our youth, leaving them empowered and better able to make positive choices for their future.

Education and wellness is at the heart of our many programs, including Basketball Camps, Laptops for Love, Back-2-School Backpacks, and The Nancy Lieberman Educational College Scholarships.

In partnership with the WorldVentures Foundation we are building DreamCourts across the nation. These courts serve as a safe area for children to play basketball, interact with their peers, learn important life lessons, such as teamwork and most importantly, to have fun!

My journey began with my high school assistant principal reaching out to strangers; with an empty can, she asked people to help me – a young girl who was full of promise, but who did not have the proper resources that were necessary to live out my dreams.

From my humble beginnings where a tin can symbolized hope and extraordinary success, I ask you to join me in supporting the many children who need our help today….a little “can” goes a long way. In 1976, Nancy Lieberman’s high school assistant principal, Barbara Sackrowitz, helped her achieve her goals at the moment when dreams become realized or forgotten. With an empty can, Barbara sought donations to help send Nancy to the Olympic trials, where she ultimately made history and lived out her dreams. Barbara believed in Nancy and because of that faith, she was granted an opportunity of a lifetime. Every child deserves to have someone to believe in them and give them the chance to realize their dreams. Extraordinary things can happen when a child is blessed with the gift of belief and opportunity.

Not every child has the same opportunities in life and it is important to ensure they

are given a great education to better position themselves to achieve their aspirations. We encourage our children to

work hard and use good judgment in their every day lives so that they can be valuable

members of society.

This year marks our fifth annual Nancy Lieberman Dream Ball Gala. The purpose of the Gala is to raise funds and awareness to enhance the lives of children in the primary areas of education, health, and fitness. With the help of celebrities, dignitaries, civic leaders, volunteers and corporate

sponsors, we are able to accomplish our mission and raise funds for the enrichment of children in our communities.

BASKETBALL CAMPS & CLINICSNancy Lieberman celebrates 35 years of conducting summer basketball camps and clinics for children in the DFW Metroplex and across the country. The Nancy Lieberman basketball camps serve as a classroom to teach basketball fundamentals, teamwork, structure, leadership, and life skills that will propel the next generation of student-athletes to success on and off the court. These camps and clinics provide children the life-building essentials they will need to succeed in all aspects of their future. The Nancy Lieberman Charities is proud to offer scholarships to attend these camps for those in need.

Nancy Lieberman Educational Programs

NANCY LIEBERMAN EDUCATIONAL COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS The Nancy Lieberman Charities awards DFW high school student-athletes who have excelled in academics and sports while making a positive impact in their community.

The college scholarship is in the amount of $10,000, which is synonymous to the #10 Nancy wore during her basketball career. The college scholarship is based on an essay and application form. To be eligible, the recipient must participate in Junior Varsity or Varsity athletics at least one year prior to applying for the scholarship.
