Word from the presidentPres. E. Kaddumukasa

Dear Rotarians,Rotaractors,Interactors and Our Guests,

You are all welcome to our second fellow-ship of the new Rotary year 2015/2016.

This time I wish to draw your attention to the membership growth before the mem-bership growth month of August.

We have been 1.2million Rotarians for many years and that means that we ac-cepted to replace only members who drop off. Definitely that if not growth.

It is now the time to invite friends, com-munity leaders and business people to come together to create positive lasting changes in our communities all over the world. We were advised by RI Trustee Sam, that if it were possible to grow by 0.01%, our

population would grow to about 7.0million and the impact of rotary would be felt.

The majority of us don’t have the capacity and means, like Bill and Melinda Gates to impact our communities individually. We can only do that by coming together.

Please kindly get a friend and introduce him/her even before August begins. Our DG Bob has already sent us new guide lines for chartering new clubs during our year.

The second point I wish to draw your at-tention to, is the urgent need to raise more money for our Mukono Rotary Hospital. Our account is now completely depleted.

We are again starting with our club before extending our feelers to the outsider.

Please respond positively when ap-proached on this matter.

BE A GIFT TO THE WORLD.

Thanks,

President Edward Kaddumukasa’s first fellowship

R.I Trustee Sam Owori hands over a PHF+2 to Rtn Chris Mudoola.

."

The year of service has begun and it is such an honor to serve as the District Rotaract Representative for 2015-16. This Rotary year, a former Rotaractor (of the Rotaract Club of Kampala City) assumes the highest position in our Rotary District 9211. District Governor Robert Waggwa Nsibirwa (also known as DG Bob) is the first Rotaractor to be installed as Governor in D9211. We are proud and congratulate him on this achievement. We are also delighted that the DG will start his remarkable journey by visiting Rotaractors in District 9211, starting with those in Northern Uganda in the first and second week of July 2015. This is the first time ever, that a District Governor is including Rotaract Clubs on his schedule of visits and we are very excited by this development. Our District Rotaract theme for the year is: INVESTING IN THE YOUTH, OUR GIFT TO MANKIND and ties very nicely with the Rotary Flagship project for 2015-16 – the Rotary Vijana Poa programme. This programme has been designed to benefit the youth and help curb the increasing levels of unemployment in our Rotary District. On behalf of the Rotaractors in D9211, we pledge to support this initiative by mobilizing and supporting the youth to establish income generating initiatives

Ibrahim Kimuli is a recent graduate from Makerere University. He’s been at home scratching his head on what to do next. Enter Rotary Vijana POA (a youth into work initiative), he took advantage of the training and he is reaping the benefits already. As one of the participants in the pilot cohort that was recently concluded in Kampala on 23rd June, 2015, he took on the task of starting an enterprise with 10,000 Uganda Shillings. It’s of the challenges given to the participants during the 9 days’ training programme. After a lot of debate in his debate, he zeroed in on shoe shinning. His reasoning? “I knew that people brush every day and the capital needed to start is minimal. I just bought shoe polish, I used the brush and a rug I had at home. Then, I bought a jerry can of water. My total investment was less than 6,000 Shillings”. What’s the story after three weeks? He has been able to save up to 400,000 UGX and as he adds “I now have money in my pocket daily”. Of course he hasn’t achieved this alone. In the process, he got two gentlemen to help him and they get paid according to the money they generate in the course of the day. One is on Bombo road and the other is on Gayaza road under the umbrella name – IBRA COBRA. He has created an extra two jobs for his fellow youth. That’s what the District Governor Robert Nsibirwa calls “common sense businesses” Question - How soon is your club launching its own Rotary Vijana POA project to create a platform for enterprising minds like Ibra? To get our youth working starts with you and me. Let’s do it.

HUMOURAkpos was busy sleeping in the class when the lesson was going on.

The teacher caught him and asked him.Teacher: Why are you sleeping while I was teaching? You are not listening!

Akpos: Madam, your voice was so sweet, that’s why I slept off.

Teacher: Then why are others not sleep-ing?

Akpos: Because they are not listening.

Teacher: Ok, if you said you were listening, give me 10 examples of wild animals!

Akpos: Hahaha, na this I can’t answer? Common ten examples of wild animals? Ma, the question is too cheap.

Teacher: Just answer it.

Akpos: Ok! Ten examples of wild animals are: 4 lions, 3 cobras, 2 tigers & 1 gorilla.Teacher fainted.
