ADVENTURE Cross the border in to a whole different world in the lush Okavango Delta in northern Botswana. The world’s largest inland delta is home to a variety of birds and mammals – you will have the opportunity to explore the waterways in a ‘mokoro’, a traditional dugout canoe.

Whilst in Botswans, go on safari at Chobe National Park, boasting Africa’s largest elephant population, as well as crocodiles, lions, leopards and hippos. Camp near the park and enjoy wildlife viewing by jeep and boat!

Finally, visit the thundering Victoria Falls in Zambia. You will be awestruck by the sheer force of the Zambezi river falling 108m over the edge, creating the world’s largest waterfall by area.

The rugged Naukluft Mountains rise steeply from the surrounding plains of the Namib desert and hide deep ravines, plunging gorges, clear rock pools, and a variety of game such as mountain zebras, antelopes and leopards. Accessible only on foot or on horseback, the Naukluft Mountains are an ideal place for hiking.

There are several superb marked hiking trails which provide a challenging and rewarding trek. Groups must be fully prepared with food provisions and make the most of daylight hours by starting at first light every day.

After your trek, descend from the mountains to visit Sossusvlei, home to giant red sand dunes, varied wildlife and endless blue skies, creating one of the world’s most striking desert landscapes.

YOUR EXPEDITION OBJECTIVESThese are the areas around which your expedition will focus such as adventurous activities, projects and destination highlights.

PROJECTThe team at Jungle junction have been instrumental in helping raise the necessary funds for the construction of the school and have worked alongside local and international volunteers who want to help this truly grassroots project.

The aim for 2017 will be to complete the new classroom block so classes do not have to share the same room.

Whilst on the island take the opportunity to really get to know the age-old ways of the community, and discover the techniques of building and paddling a traditional mokoro!

Seven neighbouring villages have come together to develop Nandavu Community School for their children.

In Zambia, community schools are set up, financed and run by local residents. All costs for construction, educational materials, teachers’ salaries, classroom furniture and other resources are borne by the community. The Government does not provide support for a community school until that school is well established.
