COMPUTER TRAININGThis educational program provides the community with open computer access, and providesindividuals with general computer skills through classroom and individual instruction.Specific attention is directed toward Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Accessapplications. Lab is open from 10:00 am- 6:00 pm. Hours vary for each class.Eligibility and fees: There are no restrictions in program eligibility and no previouscomputer experience is required. Fees are dependent upon the course taken andscholarships are available to eligible students.

HEALTH SERVICESFree Clinic of Our TownsA medical program that provides primary care to uninsured and under-insured individualsresiding in North Mecklenburg and South Iredell counties. Services provided include healthassessments, physician services, diagnosis and treatment for illnesses, health education,nutritional educations, referral support, and flu vaccinations. No obstetrician services areavailable. The clinic is offered every Thursday evening from 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM.Eligibility and fees: Must live in the North Mecklenburg or South Iredell. Patients are seenfirst come, first served basis and there is no fee for this service.

Free Dental ProjectA program that provides free dental care to low-income families without dental insurance inthe community. Services provided include dental examinations, treatment, dental charting,and instruction on proper dental hygiene. The program is offered the second and fourthWednesday of each month from 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm at the Huntersville First Baptist Church.Eligibility and fees: To be eligible, patients must be residents of North Mecklenburg orSouth Iredell counties and have no dental insurance orMedicaid. Patients must first be seen by a dental screening at 6:30 PMon the second or fourth Wednesday before an appointment can bescheduled for a later date

Parish Nurse ServicesA program through which a registered nurse promotes wellness, provides health educationand counseling, advocates for clients, connects individuals with appropriate communityresources, and integrates the faith –health relationship. This service is available by

LATINO SUPPORT SERVICESThis program provides translation and general support to the Latino community. Servicesinclude translation, interpretation, counseling, problem solving, and advocacy. A briefassessment of the client’s situation is required to receive assistance. The program isavailable Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM; and Wednesday andFriday from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.Eligibility and fees: Available to residents of North Mecklenburg and South Iredellcounties. No fee for this service.

LIFE COMPASS PROGRAMThis program provides a social worker to assist individuals in achieving the highest level ofself-sufficiency possible. Referrals and case management services are available in the areasof education, health, housing, transportation, and employment. Limited financial assistanceis available. The program is available by appointment weekdays from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PMwith evening appointments available as needed.Eligibility and fees: Available to residents of North Mecklenburg and South Iredellcounties. An assessment of the client’s situation by the social worker is required.

LOAVES AND FISHESThis program provides one week’s worth of groceries for families in the surrounding area.The food pantry is open on Wednesdays from 1:00 PM – 3:30 PM, and on Fridays from10:00 AM – 12:30 PM.Eligibility and fees: Community members can obtain a referral at the center or be referredby other agencies. Families can only receive groceries once every 60 days.

LYDIA’S LOFTThis off-site program provides clothing to low-income families in the Lake Norman area.Families must obtain a referral at the Ada Jenkins Center, at which time directions will begiven to the location in Huntersville.

CERTAIN DISABLED (SCD ) 704-878-5375 for more information.A financial assistance program for eligible individuals. There is no medical assistance withthis program. This unit is located at the Health Department. Eligibility: Iredell County residents; must have been denied disability based on SocialSecurity standards, but must meet disability definition for this group; must meet income andasset guidelines; ages 18-64.
