DRY SAND AND STONE SEPARATION AT RECEIVING DECK

/ ANDRITZ WOOD PROCESSING SEMINAR / WOODYARD EQUIPMENT/ © COPYRIGHT ANDRITZ 23

ANDRITZ Solution

• Dry debris separation • Biomass recovery

Benefit

• Less sand in biomass for boiler

• Bark (loose) and debris separation provides better chip and pulp quality and reduces wear of chipper knives • Shaking rollers • Dry separation rollers • High pressure log wash

• Stone separation protects the chipper knives against wear and

damage • Water stone trap • Acoustic stone detection

• Metal detection before the chipper protects the chipper against

damage

• Highest and most uniform chip quality at the market • Produces with 33 degree feed angle thinner chips than any

other brand at the market; results typically 1,5% -unit yield improvement

• Max. Capacity is > 500 m3/h; • Disc diameter 3,87 m with 18 knives • Max. Dia wood is 900 mm • Volume of surge bin is big enough to balance big logs - 45 m3 • Runnability is appreciated – operators love it! - much less

blockages in infeed than with drop feed chipper • Special 4-motor drive saves in running and electrification costs

• 127 pcs sold since 2001; 23 pcs of EXL since 2009

High capacity without compromises in chip quality

• Particles, which among the chips are not suitable or preferred for pulping process, are separated in chip screening.

• Oversized are separated, resized and returned to accepts • Fines are separated and sent to bio fuel • Over thick can be separated, resized and returned to accepts

• Fines screening of ANDRITZ HQ-chips is not necessary. • Fines screening creates a fiber loss. • Fines screening is necessary in case of purchased chips.
