(B) Purpose of policy To assure all transvaginal transducers are optimally cleaned prior to each use. (C) Procedure 1. Remove all organic matter and other residue with the Metrisponge from the tip to the cable for 2-3 minutes. Rinse with water. 2. Disinfect the transducer in Cidex OPA solution for a minimum of 12.5 minutes. Be veiy careful not to submerge the control housing or connector in the disinfecting solution. 3. Wipe the steering mechanism with a sani-wipe. 4. After cleaning the TV probe use disinfectant spray inside sink and on sink surfaces. 5. Following immersion in Cidex OPA solution, thoroughly rinse the probe by immersing it completely in a large volume (EG 2 gallons) of water. Repeat this procedure three times (for one minute each) with a volume of fresh rinse water. 6. Dry with a clean lint free towel. 7. Inspect the transvaginal transducer for bumps, cracks, and cuts. 8. Insert the transvaginal transducer into a probe cover. 9. Suspend the transvaginal transducer on wall mounted rack. 10. Assure that information is logged on probe cleaning log.

(A) Policy statement
