The setting of the story takes place in the woods with two 50 year old log cabins with a bunch of slayers and a slayers daughter.
I do not know when the time period is because the book takes place in the past about five years ago in 2006, when Joss was 13.
The main character in the book is Joss McMillan who is now 13 years old, and his physical and mental abilities were naturally enhanced at birth. He could run faster than the fastest person in his school. His personality traits are that he doesn’t like to show off he says that people force him to. And because of that everybody at his school hates him. Because he is a McMillan he is also what the people in the book say handsome.
In the woods during his training he falls asleep and one of his fellow slayers heads gets ripped off, and this went on another two times to other slayers. Also he is struggling to become a slayer to avenge his sisters death at the hands of a vampire.
The resolution to the story was that he discovered who was behind the killings and it had been one of the slayers who was actually a vampire. He discovered this by all of the sunscreen at his cabin. He killed a horde of vampires who had been secretly hiding in a cabin 2 miles away by blowing up a stove. And at the end of the story the vampires daughter (he had only been turned a vampire two years ago) knew Joss had killed him and swore to get revenge on him for killing her dad.
The entire series is one of my most favorite series. I liked the book because I wouldn’t have read it if of I didn’t think it was going to be good. And it only took me 2 days to read. I also liked the book because it wasn’t like Twilight.
The author Heather Brewer likes to dance under full moons, attend renaissance fairs, writes in black happy bunny pajama pants and was bullied when she was in school and wrote this story based about being different.
My five questions about the book are, what will happen to Kat ( the girl who ran out on Joss) in the future? When will Joss meet Vladimir? Do Joss’s parents find out about him being a slayer? Will Joss learn how to kill a human if he has to? And what will his next mission be?
When Joss’s sister dies at the hands of a creature he later learns is a vampire he seeks out revenge. He receives a letter from his Uncle who is a part of a secret society called the Slayer society he vows to pledge himself to it. During his training to become a full slayer he slacks off by falling asleep while on watch and a vampire kills his trainer. This continues to happen until he finds there culprit. The one that had been behind the attacks had been a who they thought had been a fellow slayer but was secretly a vampire spy. He tracks him to the hideout and blows up the cabin in which the vampires had stayed.
