Have you had the Conversation about Organ Donation?

April 22-29 is National Organ and Tissue Donation Awareness Week (NOTDAW). Each year, this time is dedicated to sharing

stories and raising awareness about the benefits of organ donation and the life-saving effects of transplantation. Planned

are awareness events, advertising, registration drives and news stories - We invite you to have conversations about organ

donation. People of nearly any age can register to be organ donors. In many provinces there's no minimum age, though an

adult might have to sign for someone under age 18. There may be an upper age limit, depending on your province and the

type of organ. For more information visit: http://www.transplant.bc.ca/our-services/organ-donor-registry/register-your-

Turning tragedy into hope: Lethbridge family

donates Humboldt crash victim’s organs

(Article excerpt from Global News)

Logan Boulet's family honoured the Humboldt Broncos player's wish to donate his organs following Friday's devastating Saskatchewan crash. The 21-year-old — who registered to be a donor mere weeks ago — is expected to save six lives. His other organs will be donated to science, the family said. His organ donation has also prompted others to follow suit. More than 1,600 Canadians are added to organ wait lists every year. Although 90 per cent of Canadians support organ and tissue donation, less than 20 per cent have made plans to donate.
