ORAL:Mebendazole 100mg 1tab single dose
Available forms:(chewable) 100mg
Potassium Citrate 1tab TID
Antihelmintic
urinary alkalinizing agent.
Selectively and irreversibly inhibits uptake of glucose and other nutrients by susceptible helminths
works by crystallizing stone-forming salts such as calcium oxalate, calcium phosphate, and uric acid within the urinary bladder by increasing the urinary pH and urine citrate levels
- Pinworm- Roundworm,
whipworm and hookworm
- Trichinosis- Capillariasis- Dracunculiasis
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to drug.*Safe use in pregnant women and children younger than 2 hasn’t been established.*Overdose S/S: GI complaints.
-you are allergic to any ingredient in potassium citrate
-you have high potassium levels in the blood or aluminum toxicity
-you have stomach ulcers, kidney disease, heart disease, a blockage in the intestines, or a urinary tract infection
GI: transient abdominal pain and diarrhea in massive infestation and during expulsion of worms
Hematologic: Agranulocytosis, neutropenia
Skin: Urticaria
Teach patient about personal hygiene, esp good hand-washing technique. Advise to refrain from preparing food for others.
To avoid reinfestation, teach patient to wash perineal area daily, change undergarments and bedclothes and wash hands and clean fingernails before meals and after bowel movements.

Antihistamine
Competes with histamine H1-receptor sites. Prevents, but doesn’t reverse, histamine-mediated responses particularly those bronchial tubes, Gi tracts, uterus, and blood vessels. Structurally realted to local anesthetics, drug provides local anesthesia and suppress cough reflex.
-Rhinitis, allergy symptoms, motion sickness, parkinsons disease-Nighttime sleep aid-Nonproductive cough
-you are currently taking aldosterone-blockers (eg, eplerenone), aluminum salts (eg, aluminum hydroxide), potassium-sparing diuretics (eg, triamterene), or anticholinergics (eg, atropine)
-Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to drug; newborn; premature neonates; breastfeeding woman, patients with angle-closure glaucoma, stenosing peptic ulcer, those having acute asthma attack
-Avoid use in patients taking MAO inhibitors
-Use with caution in patients with prostatic hyperplasia, asthma, COPD, increased IOP,
CNS: drowsiness, sedation, sleepiness, dizziness, incoordination, seizures, confusion, insomnia, headache, vertigo, fatigue, restlessness, tremor, nervousness.
CV: palpitations, hypotension, tachycardia
EENT: diplopia, blurred vision, nasal congestion, tinnitus
-Warn patient not to take this drug with any other products that contain diphenhydramije (inc. topical therapy) because of increased adverse reactions.
-Instruct patient to take drug 30 mins before travel to prevent motion sickness.
-Tell patient to take diphenhydramine with milk or food to reducre GI distress.
-Warn patient to avoid alcohol and hazardous activities that require alertness until CNS effects of drug are known.

Antiulcer
Inhibits proton pump activity by binding to hydrogen-potassium adenosine triphosphate, located at secretory
-Symptomatic gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) without esophageal lesions-Erosive esophagitis-Pathologic hyper secretory condition-Duodenal Ulcer
hyperthyroidism and HPN
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to drug or its component.
-Use cautiously in patients with Barttter syndrome, hypokalemia, and
GI: dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia
GU: dysuria, urine retention, urinary frequency
Hematologic: thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, hemolytic anemia
Respiratory: thickening of bronchial secretions
Skin: urticarial, photosensitivity, rash
Other: anaphylaptic shock
CNS: asthenia, dizziness, headache.
GI: abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea and vomiting
-Inform patient that sugarless gum, hard candy or ice chips may relieve dry mouth.
Warn patient of possible photosensitivity reactions. Advise use of sunblock.
Tell patient to swallow tablets whole and not to open, crush, chew them
Instruct patient to take this drug at least 1 hour before meals
Monitor patients for signs and symptoms of low magnesium level,

-Helicobacter pylori infection and duodenal disease to eradicate H.pylori with clarithromycin-short term treatment of active benign gasric ulcer-frequent heartburn-Laryngitis
respiratory alkalosis and in patients on a low sodium diet.
-Long term administration of bicarbonate with calcium or milk can cause milk-alkali syndrome.*Overdose S/S: Confusion, drowsiness, blurred vision, tachycardia, nausea and vomiting, diaphoresis, flushing, headache, dry mouth.
Musculoskeletal: backpain
Respiratory: cough, upper respiratory tract infection
Skin: rash
such as abnormal heart rate/ rhythm, palpitations, muscle spasms, tremos or seizures
