NADEEM KHAN Director of Communications

VOTE KHAN Nadeem Khan was first elected to the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU) in 2008. He took over the inaugural position of the Director of Communications and also became the Chair of the Medical Committee. In his position, Khan has utilized an optimum combination of Communication, Promotion, Presentation, Liaison and Media. He has built the position and rightly placed ultrarunning on the international athletics map. Khan’s work in the international ultrarunning realm has been widely recognized with his appointments as the Media and Communication Officer for the Com-monwealth Association of Mountain and Ultra Distance Running (CAMUR) and Vice President of the Association of Cana-dian Ultramarathoners (ACU). He was also an integral part of reworking the IAU-WMA agreement reinitiating the Masters event to the 100km World Championships. As Director of Communications, Khan has initiated several new projects continuing to place athletes at the center of the activi-ties. Vote KHAN and re-elect him as a Director on the Executive Council and take ultrarunning into the future!

COMMUNICATION • Prepared nine eNEWS for memberships • Answered over seven thousand emails in the last four years • Carried Live Updates from race sites with global followers • Worked on the new IAU website making it user friendly • Initiated an IAU Twitter Account promoting IAU events • Handled enquiries as the primary contact on the IAU • Sent several emails advising contacts on IAU activities • Instituting official correspondences in IAAF languages • Organizing Medical Conferences pertinent to ultrarunning

PROMOTION • Promoted ultrarunning on the international stage at IAAF Congress (Berlin ‘09, Daegu ‘11) • Initiated several close contacts with potential future members • Implemented Brochure to highlight the IAU • Six new federations have joined the IAU since 2008 • In contact with potential members from Europe, Asia, Africa, Middle-East & South America
