March 13 at 7:00 pm, The Northport Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Northport library, presents Irish Step Dancing with the dancers of the An Rince Mor School of Irish Dance. An Rince Mor students have successfully competed in many local, regional, national and world feiseanna. They have been featured on the "Today Show" and at Radio City Music Hall and have performed at events throughout the tri-state area. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day early with a lively evening of Irish tunes. Free Admission. (631) 261-6930.

Poets in Port

March 22 at 7:30 pm Poets in Port will take place at Caffe Portofino, 249 Main St., Northport

Poets in Port evenings include a featured poet plus open reading The audience is encouraged to bring their poems and participate.

Village Hall Student Art Show The Northport Arts Coalition, in cooperation with the Northport Village Hall

presents: The Village Hall Art Show, featuring origianal works from

Northport Middle School students. Opening reception will take place on March 10th from 1 to 3pm.

On display from March 1st through May 1st in the Northport Village Hall

birthday - make music! The Northport

Symphony Orchestra, the Community Music

Program of Stony Brook University, and

players to a free sight-reading session of music by

J. S. Bach to celebrate the great master's 328th

birthday, which falls on March 21st. Music-

making will be from 2 to 4 PM at the community

room of Half Hollow Hills Community Library, 55 Vanderbilt Pkwy., Dix Hills.

and print music. Bring your instrument, stand, and music (cellists and bassists,

During the month of March, Celeste Mauro will have her watercolors, collages and digital images on view in the storefront showcase and in the gallery of The Firefly Artists. The Firefly Artists, a cooperative gallery featuring the work of local artists, is located in the heart of Northport village at 127 Main Street (inside the LaMantia Gallery). Celeste's colorful work was featured in an article, "Awash with Color" in the February 2013 issue of The Village Connection magazine. The watercolor, "Under See, " as well as several other images that showcase her unique use of brilliant color, will be on exhibit. Meet the artist on Sunday, March 10 from 1 to 3 pm. Gallery hours: 10-6 Mon-Sat; 12-4 Sun.

Long Island Artists! Arts Alive LI, a program of the Long Island Arts Alliance, wants YOU!

Create an original poster celebrating THE ARTS AND LONG ISLAND

Woodbury, NY- (January 31, 2013) Students, amateurs and professional artists are encouraged to celebrate THE ARTS AND LONG ISLAND by participating in the 2013 Arts Alive LI Festival Poster Contest. This contest, which runs from February 4th, 2013 to May 24th, 2013, represents a unique opportunity for residents of all ages to become involved with the premier month-long multi-venue arts festival on Long Island. Monetary prizes will be awarded to the first and second place winners and gifts will be presented to third and honorable mentions in each of five (5) categories including: Pre-K- Grade 2, Grades 3-6, Grades 7-12, Adult amateur (age 18+) and Professional. Winning posters will become part of the 2013 Arts Alive LI Commemorative Poster Series and will be showcased at venues across the island. "It is our hope that many of the incredibly talented students and artists that live, work and play right here on Long Island will view this as a wonderful opportunity," said Theresa Statz-Smith, Executive Director, Long Island Arts Alliance. "Since the submissions will be done digitally on our website ArtsAliveLI.org, it is best suited to those who draw, paint, and specialize in graphic art or photography." The Arts Alive LI Festival, presented by the Long Island Arts Alliance (LIAA) and Bethpage Federal Credit Union, celebrates existing arts and culture events, as well as newly developed events, which occur during October, the National Arts and Humanities month. Mary Ahern, the Northport Garden Artist, has been invited by the Huntington Arts Council to display her Mixed Media paintings in the show titled, “Living Color”. These bold & bright, large-scale paintings of her garden are truly re-interpretations of Living Color. The show is sponsored by the Huntington Arts Council and will be held at the Art-rium Gallery at 25 Melville Park Rd., Melville NY. Her Fine Art will be on view from March 26 – June 17, 2013. Exhibition: March 2-29, 2013: Reception: Saturday, March 9, 2-5 pm bj spoke gallery, 299 Main Street, Huntington. Liz Ehrlichman’s solo show Requiem is a group of collages created in response to the music and text of Brahms' German Requiem. In the spring of 2012, she had the privilege of singing in the alto section of the Huntington Choral Society’s performance of this masterpiece. It became the impetus for her current work. Using color, rhythm, repetition and textual elements, Ehrlichman filters her own experience of the music to invoke both its content and ambiance.

Monday, March 18th, 7:30 PM – The Northport Reader’s Theater will meet at St.

Paul’s United Methodist Church, 270 Main St, Northport to read a selection of new

plays which were submitted to, but not included in, the 2013 Northport One-Act

Play Festival, April 12-14. All audience members are welcome participate in the

readings and the discussion with the playwrights that follows. For further
