Notice is hereby given that the 33rd Annual General body Meeting of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR APPLICATIONS OF RADIOISOTOPES & RADIATION IN INDUSTRY (NAARRI), will be held on Friday, 26th October, 2018 at 18:00 Hrs. at Hotel Jewel of Chembur (near to BMC office and Naatraj Theatre), Mumbai - 400 071.
Agenda :
1. To confirm the minutes of the 32nd Annual General Body Meeting of the Association held on Thursday 22nd December, 2016 at Hotel Yogi Midtown, Sion panvel highway, Sanpada, Navi Mumbai.
2. To approve and adopt the Annual report of the Executive Committee for the years 2016-2018.
3. To pass the audited statement of accounts for the years 2016-2018. 4. To ratify the nominations to the Board of trustees. 5. To appoint auditors and fix their remuneration. 6. Any other matter with the kind permission of the chair. Questions, if any, may please be sent in writing, so as to reach the Secretary by 23rd October 2018.

NOTICE
ANNUAL REPORT
The President & members of the executive committee, NAARRI extend a very warm welcome to you all to the 33rd Annual General Body meeting of the Association.
It is a matter of great pride for all of us that, NAARRI completed 40 years of its yeomen service to the Indian Industry and academia during November 2016.
On this momentous occasion, NAARRI places on record its appreciation and sincere thanks to its founder father Dr. V. K. Iya and all those doyens of Isotope programme whose vision, guidance and leadership made NAARRI what it is today. Needless to mention, the support and co-operation we have been receiving from our esteemed members.
To commemorate this occasion, the executive committee has lined up a series of technical programmes and also publication of a book on “Safety, Security and Regulations in Handling Radiation Sources.”
Publication and release of the Book on “Safety, security and regulations in handling radiation source”
The long felt need for bringing out a book on "Safety, Security and Regulation in Handling Radiation Sources" was taken up by the executive committee during this period.
The book was released during a glittering function held at BARC training school hostel, Anushaktinagar by Dr. Sekhar Basu, Chairman, AEC and Secretary to Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India.
Shri S.A. Bhardwaj, Chairman, AERB, Shri K. N. Vyas, Director, BARC and Shri S. K. Sharma CMD of NPCIL were also present on the occasion.
Dr. Sekhar Basu complimented NAARRI for its effort in bringing out a book like this which is really a reference book for people in the field.
NAARRI International Conference NICSTAR-2018
NAARRI organized its 7th international conference, NICSTAR-2018 during March 5-7, 2018 on the theme “Advanced Applications of Radiation Technology" at Hotel Courtyard by Marriot, Andheri, Mumbai. The conference was organized in co-operation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Vienna, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), and supported by Atomic Energy
Regulatory Board (AERB), Board of Radiation and Isotope Technology (BRIT), International irradiation association (iia) and the World council on Isotopes (WCI).
The conference was inaugurated by Dr. R. Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Advisor to Government of India.
Dr. Chidambaram in his inaugural speech highlighted the effort of the Indian scientists in developing various applications of radioisotope and radiation for human welfare. He lauded the leading role being played by NAARRI in promoting the applications of radioisotopes and radiation technology in the country and also for organizing such a mega scientific event involving large number of scientists from different parts of the world.
Shri S.A Bhardwaj, Chairman, Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) presided over the function and Shri K. N. Vyas, Director, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) was the Guest of Honor on this auspicious occasion. In his presidential address, Shri. S.A Bhardwaj gave an overview of the various applications of Radioisotope and Radiation Technology developed in India. Further, he emphasized the fact that the non–nuclear applications of radioisotope and radiation technology generate major share of wealth creation than that of the energy related activities.
Shri K.N.Vyas, Director, BARC, complimented NAARRI for its various activities organized in different parts of the country aimed at creating awareness among large section of the society.
Shri Anil Anand, President, NAARRI and Chairman, organizing committee NICSTAR-2018 welcomed the delegates and the dignitaries and spoke on this occasion about the various activities of NAARRI in the propagation of the radiation technology.
Shri P. J. Chandy, Secretary, Organizing committee of NICSTAR-2018 elaborated the theme of the conference and Shri Vikram Kalia, Convener, NICSTAR proposed a vote of thanks.
A technical exhibition was also organized as part of this conference wherein various companies from India and abroad participated in exhibiting their products and services.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Shri K. N. Vyas, Director, BARC. About 350 delegates from all over the world attended the conference. NICSTAR-2018 was a grand success by all standards.
Participation in other International events (ICARST, IAEA Vienna)
As decided at the last Annual General body meeting. NAARRI supported and participated in an international conference organized by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Vienna during April 23-28, 2017. NAARRI had set up an exhibition stall on the occasion which highlighted the achievements made by NAARRI during the last four decades.
NAARRI also participated in an international conference being organized by the World Council on Isotope (WCI) at Doha, Qatar. Shri A. K. Anand, president, NAARRI, made a presentation about the activities of NAARRI and the forthcoming NICSTAR 2018.
Participation in both these events helped NAARRI to market NICSTAR 2018 in overseas forum which resulted in participation of large numbers of overseas participants.
A two-day awareness program on “Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Technology in Industry, Agriculture and Healthcare” was held at Amity University, Noida, during August 2016. About 350-400 participants from research organizations, industrial houses, post graduate students and faculty members from various educational institutions participated. This program was supported by AERB, BRIT, Public Awareness Division, DAE and BRNS.
A two-day symposium on “Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Technology in Industry, Agriculture, and Healthcare” was organized at Thapar University, Patiala, Punjab during 28-29 November 2016. About 250-300 delegates mainly from industries, research scholars, postgraduate students, faculty members and engineers and scientists from Pollution Control Board of Punjab have participated.
A two-day seminar on “Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Technology in Industry, Agriculture and Healthcare” was organized at GKVK University, Bangalore, during November 29-30, 2017 wherein about 250 participants representing various universities, research organizations and industrial houses from all over Karnataka participated. The program was supported by AERB, BRIT, Public Awareness Division, BRNS, etc.
Future Programmes
NAARRI rededicates itself to continue its activities in the thrust areas such as arranging Awareness Programs, Publishing of newsletter etc. The following programs are scheduled to be organized in the near future.
A two-day seminar on “Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Technology in Industry, Agriculture and Healthcare” is scheduled at St. Aloysius College, Mangalore during 10-11 September 2018. A large number of
postgraduate students and faculty members from various colleges, medical colleges, practicing doctors, Industrial houses and research organizations are expected to participate.
A two-day seminar on Applications of Radioisotopes and Radiation Technology in Industry, Agriculture and Healthcare is proposed to be held at Saffrony Institute of technology, Mehasana Gujarat during the first week of February 2019 wherein about 400 participants representing various engineering colleges, research organizations and industrial houses from all over Gujarat expected to participate.
A two-day National Seminar on the Theme Accelerators and their Applications is scheduled to be held at Mangalore University, Mangalore during April / May 2019. This will be a thematic seminar and about 200 participants from the medical profession are expected to participate.

Membership:
During the period 35 life members and 3 institutional life members were added. The membership of the association currently stands at 1263 as on March 31, 2018. This includes 53 institutional members.
Financial Position:
Financial position of the association has been strengthened further during this period.
