Requirements

1. All Presenters and Co-Presenters Must Register for Convention – Lead presenters are offered a $200 discount on registration fees. You must cover travel, lodging, and expenses on your own. Registration rates depend on NAA member status and the date by which you register. See more: http://naaweb.org/attend/registration

2. Prepare for your session, share handouts and materials, and upload them in the app the first week of March. You must print & ship your own handouts.

3. Tell audience to complete the session evaluation in the app

4. Clean and set your room at the end of the presentation

5. Get in touch with issues. Let us know of cancellations, travel delays, etc.

All Convention participants (attendees, presenters, exhibitors) receive an overall Convention evaluation, separate from presentation evaluations.

RequirementsWorkshops (60 min)• As hands-on, engaging, and interactive as possible. • As many handouts and resources as possible (within reason!)• Required: at least 10 minutes of audience Q&A or interactive discussion• Required: no product or sales pitches (except exhibitor sessions)

• Recommended: plan for 35-45 minutes of content; focus on audience engagement and interactive activities.

• We do not review your presentation, materials, or handouts. We trust you.

• Presenters are back-to-back with 15 minutes in between. Quickly transition!

Up to 20 concurrent workshop sessions in a single block, audience size is unpredictable.

• Presenters are back-to-back with 15 minutes in between. Quickly transition!

Up to 10 concurrent spark + 5-10 workshops overlapping. Audience size is unpredictable!

Requirements

Intensives (2.5 hours)• Deep dive into a topic with opportunities to explore further with

more in-depth, hands-on active learning experiences

• AT LEAST 30 minutes of Q&A required

• Participants should work in small groups, practice, iterate, get feedback, etc. NOT get a 2.5 hour long lecture.

• Hosted by experienced trainers and leaders

• Typically scheduled in smaller rooms with tables

• Take breaks as needed

Exhibitor Sessions

Exhibitor Sessions• Offered as workshops or spark sessions • Offered on Monday and Tuesday throughout Convention• Offered only to confirmed exhibitors

What’s Different?• You are encouraged to promote materials, products, and services! • Listed as “Exhibitor Workshop” to help highlight your booth and make it

clear there may be a sales/product pitch• Located near the Learning Expo• Very positive feedback last two years!

What’s published: • Title, short description, content level, strand, all presenter names and

organizations (listed alphabetically)

The app:• More detailed information, objectives, presenter photos and bios (you will

need to upload)

Your edits:• We will share your title, description, and presenter names for your review

next week. Deadline for final edits is Monday, February 12.

Preparing Your Presentation

Put the participants at the center. They need time to reflect, practice, ask questions.

• Share information that will elevate the field and increase youth learning, engagement, and well being.

• Provide hands-on trainings to peers with the time and space to ideate, practice, get feedback, learn in a safe space.

• Skip background info, share case studies, resources, time to work in teams or play around. If you have the time, icebreakers are great.

• Help NAA grow a network of connected and engaged afterschool professionals. Elevate your own experience and leadership.

• Outline your presentation before designing• Meet with your co-presenters to assign roles• Ensure your content matches your title, description• Ask a colleague to listen to you rehearse• Practice makes perfect• Use handouts for background info, resources, or

tools to continue their learning. Start gathering them.
