What I’m About…

Lakes/Woods/Cabin

• I’m from a pretty remote area, we’ve got a cabin on the lake. I love getting away, being in the outdoors. Spent my whole summer living at the cabin last year, admiring the scenery & Lake Superior.

Family & Traditions

• I’m from a relatively small, extremely close family. Wonderful, supportive parents, the coolest little brother who is < half my age (13), I’ve been extremely close with great grandparents, grandparents, aunts/uncles/cousins. We share our large cabin on the lake across the whole family & grew up with all my family there every weekend

Bob Dylan

• One of the most brilliant, unique, uncompromising artists in the world. Wrote music that changed the world at 20 years old & is still doing it today at 70 & has reinvented himself several times along the way. Does things his own way. Also is from where I’m from so I’ve had an interest in the people & places growing up there that inspired him which led me to…

Historic Preservation & Restoring Interesting Old Buildings

• At 18 I got involved in a group working to restore a massive condemned building, the Historic Duluth Armory as an arts/music/performance center. As a 17-year-old Dylan saw Buddy Holly perform there & then 2 nights later Holly died in a plane crash. The event inspired Dylan & the community/business/artistic experience of trying to do this very complicated project as a grassroots non-profit for the last 10 years has really shaped me. I went back to get my MBA to be a real estate developer that restores old buildings before I became fixated on Pursuit—I still want to be involved in historic preservation at a volunteer, hobby, or professional level

Football: Packers & Buckeyes

• Love football & love the experience of going to games, tailgating, & being on campus for Buckeye games

Coffee Shop

• Hate working/studying in silence. Hang out at a great local coffee shop that has an eclectic cast of characters to keep me entertained

Dressing Absurd

• My normal style is very subtle & mellow but when there’s an event, a party, etc I love to pick up interesting & odd stuff at thrift/vintage stores and just dress silly

The Stuff w/o Photos

• Yoga– Been doing it for 4 years, still extremely inflexible and amateur but

love it, love the challenge, gives me a different/spiritual connection w/ the world

• Talking Business– I love strategy, business ideas, new concepts and love just chatting &

debating about them with friends/classmates. Really appreciate people trying to do things differently

• Different Perspectives– Like friends & acquaintances from all places in life & the world.

Enjoy surrounding myself with a wide array of folks and always having a connection/person/”a guy” who knows or is passionate about every different thing

The Stuff w/o Photos• Bridging

– Enjoy & am good at placing myself in the middle of situations & people and bridging. While I’m not a hard core analytical guy nor a super creative artistic type I’m good at getting each side to understand one another. My business partners are a super creative graphic designer, operations/factory manager type, & Chinese aspiring sourcing specialist and I’m floating in the middle

• Jokes– Love being silly, joking, sarcastic whether over beers or poking fun at things I

track on Facebook or at work or in class. I’m fairly witty & love to laugh and make people laugh

• Strategy– Love simple concepts, simple designs, things I can wrap my simple mind

around that maybe take a different approach to the norm. Often get distracted from the stuff I should be doing to daydream about this stuff.

Implications for creating• I tend to not take things too seriously, try to include fun, humor, &

wit and that’s how I want the pursuit brand message & experience to be

• We want the fashion to be great quality, great looking but smart enough to realize that 2 hour job interview is serious but the party afterwards is not we want to show pursuit in the fun situations that follow the serious

• I love the idea of holding pursuit events in unique, great old buildings since I have such a passion for them

• We plan to set up a simple photobooth at our events to snap pictures for the guys in their suits to use for serious things like LinkedIn, then some silly/funny ones for Facebook, ironic Xmas cards, etc

Excited to see what fashion inspiration you draw from my story!
