Celebration of Learning 27 October

Dear Parents and Caregivers
Celebrating our community
What an amazing day Friday was! It was such a special day where our community came together to celebrate all the
diverse cultures that make up Parnell District School. Our diversity is such a strength of our community, and events
like diversity day that put it on display are an opportunity for us all to remember just how wonderfully multicultural
our community is. It speaks to the melting pot that is Auckland Central, and the world all our students will grow up
in.
One aspect that really made diversity day such a spectacular success was the support of our parents. For our parents
to donate their time to broadening our students experiences has meant that we can offer a range of opportunities
that we could never consider otherwise. But diversity day is just the tip of the ice burg in terms of all our parents do
to support our school. From our BOT and PTA, to our wonderful parents who read with students in the morning, to
parents who garden with our students, to parents helping in class and the myriad of other ways our parents support
our students. You are creating a community of care that supports every one of our students. On behalf of all our
students I would like to take the chance to thank every one of you for your ongoing support.
Get your diary out!
One date I'd like you to pencil in for the end of the year is our Prizegiving. It takes place on the 15th of December
from 11am-1pm and is a chance for us all to gather to celebrate the achievements of our students. We are well
under way in planning to make our prizegiving a celebration worthy of our students!
