Dear Parents / Caregivers
I would like to welcome Mr Mike Gilders to Bramfield Park who recently won the permanent Deputy Principal position. Mr Gilders has been very busy getting to know staff, students and parents and seeing how things work in our school. I am sure he will feel very welcome as he gets a chance to meet our wider community over the coming months.
We have certainly had a very busy few weeks with students engaging in all sorts of learning and sporting activities. Our faction athletics carnival held last week on Tuesday and Thursday was a great success. Thank you to Miss Morgan and her team of student and staff helpers for the efficient organisation that ensured both days ran very smoothly. It was great to see parents cheering on their children and also getting involved in the races!
A big thank you to the P&C who have organised many events this term for our students and families. The coffee and cake stall and sausage sizzle at the carnival was very well organised and provided morning tea and lunch to many students, staff and families. The Father's Day stall was also a great success with many students finding some great presents to take home! I hope all the dads enjoyed their special gifts from the students!
Next Wednesday night we will open our classrooms for our Learning Journey. This is always a wonderful night with all classrooms open for students to share their learning activities and projects with family members. All classrooms will be open from 5pm - 7pm and we would love to see all students bring their family through their classroom and also the Art room.
Our school will again be running the SKIPS (Supporting Kids in Primary School) program this year. SKIPS is a program for all staff, Year 5/6 students and all parents providing information about and raising awareness of mental health, mental illness and mental health in families. Representatives from WANSLEA Family Services will be running a Parent Workshop and Information session on Tuesday 20th
September 2pm-3pm that all parents are invited to attend. Please
advise the office if you would like to attend.
The end of term 3 is fast approaching with students finishing on Friday 23rd September. We will also be drawing our term 3 VIP (Volunteer Incentive Program) raffle winners that afternoon with some great prizes on offer. Don't forget to come to the office to complete your raffle ticket when you come into the school to help out, attend assemblies or other events, such as next week's Learning Journey!
Term 4 will again be very busy with swimming lessons in weeks 3 and 4 - 24th October to 4th November. Notes have been sent home this week and final payment will be required prior to the start of swimming lessons. Year 5 and 6 students will continue dancing lessons in preparation for our graduation events and students will be practising for their musical performances ready for the Presentation Assembly on 7th December. Please ensure you stay up to date through newsletters, the school app and our website.

What I learnt watching the Olympics
I don’t think I will ever be in any shape to compete at the Olympics but I have learnt a lot from watching the Olympians this last month.
I’ve learnt about the importance of having goals and striving to do my best in everything I set my mind to. I have also learnt about following my passion and being confident in who I am and what I want to achieve. Most of all I learnt that if I do my best and things don’t work out I can still be proud that I tried.
Lewis Howes, a former American football player and now author, said he learned 8 things from the Rio Olympics. And I think they are 8 things that we can all apply to our everyday lives as we strive to achieve and be the best version of ourselves we can be.
1. Vision is the beginning of the journey. 2. Develop your talent. 3. Have obsession with your passion. 4. Don’t try to do it alone – have coaches and a team. 5. Embrace pain and adversity. 6. Play for something bigger than yourself. 7. Understand that all we can do is our very best. 8. Acknowledge and appreciate your accomplishments.
Always remember that life begins at the end of your comfort zone because “Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Remember you have within you the strength, the patience and the passion to reach for the stars…to change the world” Harriet Tubman.
