Belle Terre is an existing golf course located along Highway 501 between Myrtle Beach and Conway. The golf course was being impacted by the construction from the new Carolina Bays Parkway project being constructed by the design build firm Palmetto Transportation Constructors for the SCDOT and the SCDOT S.C. Highway 501 widening project. The Carolina Bays Parkway interchange with S.C. Highway 501 was constructed over a portion of the existing entrance road to the golf course. This project was being designed and constructed at the same time as the New Maintenance Facility project for Belle Terre. JGT was responsible for the new entrance road design, new stormwater facilities design, coordination of new utility connections to the clubhouse and construction management. The Entrance Road Relocation project contained approximately 900 feet of roadway connecting to the Highway 501 frontage road, construction of two new stormwater detention ponds, and installation of a new sanitary sewer pump station, water service and fire hydrant to serve the existing clubhouse. This project proved to be very challenging due to a very tight design and construction schedule and coordi- nation between two separate SCDOT highway projects that were being constructed at the same time.
