Jacob Burke Chicago, IL Work Email: [email protected] - (815)503-2307 School Email: [email protected] I have worked in retail environments since December 2011, and I love it. During this time I have met lots of new people, and developed a great appreciation for customers and became very skilled in customer service. Also, I constantly am looking to improve my skill set, and have worked in warehouses the past 2 years. I have learned how to cycle count, down-stock, ship, receive, up-stock (put away top stock), work with product systems and find necessary product and ship out items in totes, pallets, etc. I have also frequently broke down pallets off of shipments and stocked product on the sales floor, so I am not afraid of hard work. I have frequently, if not always, multi-tasked during my shifts, worked in a fast paced environment, as well as provide excellent customer service. I am very tech-savvy, and have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) as well as various other types of electronics such as printers, fax, network routers, etc. Needless to say, I am very familiar with the latest software and technologies. In addition, I have a strong aptitude for developing software and building machines. I am a full time Computer Science major and Computer Engineering minor. I love creating and expanding and meeting new people and collaborating. GROUPS

Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) at Lewis UniversityOctober 2014 to PresentI am a current member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), an international organization that promotes the desire to learn and advance technologies to make the world a better place. ACM works with students and other engineers and scientists around the world and brings them together to help generate new ideas and spread knowledge. The chapter that I belong to is the Lewis University Chapter of ACM and am currently working with as well as attending seminars to help teach others about computer programming as well as educate myself and become a well-respected software engineer in the future.

Cyber AcesNovember 2014 to PresentIn essence, the Cyber Aces club basically meets once a week, and collectively work together to advance our networking skills mostly pertaining to cyber security and the precautions that can be taken in order to prevent the spread of malicious software. What we generally do is talk about the different types of networking layers, and how hackers can infiltrate each networking layer and how we as a group can help prevent such attacks on networks by coming up with innovative counter measures which can help to protect the integrity of the data located on a private server. This organization is really neat, and I am constantly learning new things to help advance my networking skills, and overall this organization has helped me to become a more well-rounded member of the cyber community, because of the fact that not only am I learning how to program more proficiently because I want to become a software engineer, but am also learning key things that can help to benefit my marketability as a future employee.

Lewis University Computer Science ClubOctober 2014 to May 2015This by far is my favorite organization. The reason why is because this club's focus pertains directly to my own personal interests, which is programming. As of right now, my team members and I, along with our mentor, Dr. Ray Klump, are working to set up a website which collects donations to help fund a Christmas charity drive which will donate money to help buy kindle fires for needy children. Our goal for this next few months is to raise enough money to hopefully fill a classroom with these Kindle tablets, that way each child can smile at the thought of having a tablet of their own and be eager to learn through the various tools the Kindle can provide for educational (and also fun of course) purposes. This club is something that I take pride

in the most and I enjoy being a member of every day. Aside from our charitable endeavors, the Lewis University Comp Sci Club is also involved in just having group discussions on how we can all help to set up our future careers as respected computer scientists, whether its Networking, Software Engineering (my own career path), Cyber Security, Game Design, etc. My club members and I are planning field trips to various corporations, and small start-up companies and institutions, such as Argonne National Laboratory, LinkedIn, Google, and other neat places which can help us to see what it is like in the everyday life of people we will become one day. Lastly, this club just has fun talking about all the neat things that are going on in the Computer Science world, and all the cool things we can do for fun. Currently, we are discussing working on a second project to start on, and it should go pretty well. Ask me about my affiliation with the Computer Science Club!

Lewis University Movie Club2014 to May 2015This club doesn't necessarily pertain to my major, but it is something that I have a lot of fun participating in. Basically what goes on in the movie club is movie watching- something that I love to do in my free time. I am an avid movie watcher, and this club is really cool because I am able to spend time with my fellow peers, and meet new people, all while having fun watching our favorite movies together. I really like this club because I can just sit back and relax at the end of a long day, and just watch a movie and talk about it with my fellow club members.
