Clock & Countdown
The clock provides additional functionality and practicality to the cube. The timer denotes countdown to the next topic. When the countdown ends, the cube goes blank momentarily and the timer resets. This screen disappears when the cube is picked up.
Animation
The animation only displays in passive state and disappears on two occasions: when the cube is picked up or when a new topic is set. The screen goes blank (white background) momentarily in both cases.
Action Screen
This is the only screen with touchscreen interaction. Users tap the screen to take action on the set of articles. This interaction is recorded and sent as data to the app.
Article Screen - Learn Setting
With the learn setting engaged, the Active State of the cube shows source and bias information on the articles. A color band does not appear after looking at the source.
Source Screen
In discovery, the source screen lets users learn what the source of the article is and what the bias is. This creates a moment of delight as they can guess the bias before discovering it for themselves.
Article Screen - Discover Setting
When the cube is picked up, the device enters the Active State (passive screens go away) and defaults to the Discover setting for articles. Source and bias information does not show.
When a person rotates the cube to look at the source screen and then rotates the cube back to the original article, a color band representing the source bias appears.

Jo wakes up to her morning alarm and taps her phone to shut it off. Annoyed by her phone’s rudeness, she grabs her myCube next to it. The cube’s relaxing background immediately fades out and is replaced by news.
Jo closes the app and opens Facebook. She knows that whatever news she engages with on Facebook will be tracked by the myCube App. Jo continues to try and burst out of her bias bubble!
Jo is happy with her stats and goes to check out her goals - only two more neutral articles to go! Reading from different sources has helped her become more aware of bias in news headlines.
Once done reading, Jo wants to see how she’s doing with her bias balance stats. She opens the stats page and sees that her bias balance has been updated.
She opens her saved articles and then selects the neutral article from Reuters. North Korea is at it again, it seems.
Jo sets down the myCube on her desk. She unlocks her phone and opens up the myCube app.
Jo isn’t interested in reading about health care articles, so she skips the topic. New articles about North Korea appear and she tries her hand again at guessing the bias. She saves these wanting to know more.
It looks like today’s topic is Health Care. She looks at the headlines and tries to guess the bias of the article before looking at the source.

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - The United States cautioned on Wednesday it was ready to use force if need be to stop North Korea's nuclear missile program but said it preferred global diplomatic action against Pyongyang for defying world powers by test launching a ballistic missile that could hit Alaska.
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told a meeting of the U.N. Security Council that North Korea's actions were "quickly closing off the possibility of a diplomatic solution" and the United States was prepared to defend itself and its allies.
"One of our capabilities lies with our considerable military forces. We will use them if we must, but we prefer not to have to go in that direction," Haley said. She urged China, North Korea's only major ally, to do more to rein in Pyongyang.
Speaking with his Japanese counterpart on Wednesday, U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis underscored the "ironclad commitment" of the United States to defending Japan and providing "extended deterrence using the full range of U.S. capabilities," Pentagon spokeswoman Dana White said in a statement.
