MYBA CHARTER SHOW

Another successful year for the MYBA Charter Show! The standard and quality of the exhibiting yachts was exceptionally high, the social and educational calendar busy and the press had a lot to write about. The Show remains a unique opportunity for brokers to inspect and appraise some of the newest charter yachts available for the season and it always generates impressive pre and post publicity.

2014 was an exciting year for MYBA and it seems only f itting to take a look back at what we have done. New friendships and alliances were formed, existing ties were strengthened, industry standards were raised and communication improved. The shows and events were successful and development was evident in a wide range of areas.

Whether it concerned industry documents, lobbying, skills and training or the environment... MYBA was there! Members and friends worked together, celebrated together and moved forward together. To sum it up, we could say that 2014 was the year that MYBA began its leap into the future. All this was ref lected in the media and the following review of MYBA’s 30th anniversary year is through the “eyes” of the press!

ECPY MYBA OPEN HOUSE DAYS

For the third year, the ECPY and MYBA joined forces to host the Open House Days.

These “days” offer yachting professionals the opportunity to inspect yachts for sale and

charter, meet the crews and network in a more relaxed setting than a yacht show. More time and

less pressure do make a difference.

CHEFS’ COMPETITION

Superyacht chefs have a lot on their plate. They have to satisfy a diverse group of guests through dishes that are original, creative and well presented. Recognising their invaluable contribution to a successful charter, the Chefs’ Competition at the 26th MYBA Charter Show once again provided chefs with the opportunity to display their culinary skills and expertise. The result was simply mouthwatering and attracted much attention from the media.

ECONOMIC IMPACT OF YACHTING

In difficult times, an industry such as that of superyachts can certainly attract negative publicity. Misconceptions abound and the only way to deal with them is to look at the figures. The numbers say that the yachting industry is of great value. It generates hundreds of thousands of jobs worldwide and only communication of these facts will change perceptions.

PALMA SUPERYACHT SHOW

Now in partnership with MYBA, the Palma Superyacht Show is developing into one the

most important events of the yachting calendar. 2014 brought great reviews for the show that showcases brokerage & charter yachts above

MYBA CHARTER AGREEMENT

A very significant step was taken in 2014 with the revision of the MYBA Charter Agreement, one of the industry’s most respected documents. Modifications included the improvement on instances of arbitration, different treatment of VAT in each EU jurisdiction, and a whole new page for Special Conditions. And the numbered E-Contracts will very soon make hard copies… history!

MYBA 30 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

2014 was the year that marked MYBA’s 30 years of serving the industry. It was an opportunity to look

back with pride on all that has been achieved over the years and to celebrate the occasion with Members and friends. The party that was held in Antibes was surely one of the highlights of the anniversary year and left the best impressions in the media. Rendez-

ANTIGUA CHARTER YACHT SHOW

The Association’s involvement at the 2014 Antigua Charter Yacht Show was strong and multifaceted. Activities ranged from sponsorship of the Captains’ Soiree and strengthening of ties with the PYA to supporting the Cobbs Cross Primary School. Membership interviews were held and business was done, but the most important thing was that those who attended spent “quality time with quality people”.

BEYOND THE MED

Doing business quickly, professionally and to the same standards is a practice that knows no

borders. For MYBA, it may all have started in the Mediterranean but it now plays a key role in the functioning of the yachting industry all around

the globe. MYBA is truly a worldwide association.
