1. Brief
This brief provides guidelines, information, rules and requirements for partaking in
the competition.
2. About the Competition
Celebrating 13 years in the architecture industry and recently becoming part of
the Old Biscuit Mill family, Boudry Architects are initiating a competition for a
permanent artwork/ public furniture, displayed at the Old Biscuit Mill, to mark this
achievement.
3.Vision
We are looking at submissions that are dedicated to the celebration of the multi-
cultural and collaborative nature of Woodstock.
The artwork must be a durable, weather resistant, permanent structure.
The selected pieces will be installed in the public area(s) of the Old Biscuit Mill.
The work should be a representation of the unique character of Woodstock and
its people, looking to commemorate the past and share a vision for the future.
Upon completion, the work will be part of the permanent arrangement of the
Old Biscuit Mill public space.
4. Adjudicating
The competition can be entered by all artists from all age groups. A panel of
judges will evaluate all entries, taking into account the understanding and
representation of the vision, creative execution and ease of installation /
maintenance.
The adjudicating panel will draw up a shortlist of entries on an initial review of the
submissions. Fifteen designs /artworks and five public furniture sets will be chosen
and artists will need to do a brief presentation to the panel to explain the
concept, design and installation.
All artworks and public furniture will be displayed at the Boudry Architects studio
at the Old Biscuit Mill for 2 weeks and be open to the public during the week and
on Saturdays.
5. Award
The winning artist/ team’s work will be installed in the public area(s) of the Old
Biscuit Mill – exposure not to be bought with money.
One artwork and one piece of public furniture will be selected.
The winner will be announced on the 30th of August at a gala evening at Boudry
Architects Studios and the final outdoor installation should be completed by 5
September 2016.
