Hi name is Edward and this is my story about the trip

across the big blue ocean to a place called the New World.

Page 3: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

It all started 2 weeks after my 8th birthday. My mum told

me we were going to go this big new place called the New World.

She said we were going to go in a big ship. I told my best friend John

about it and he said he it sounded cool and that he wanted to come.

But at the end he didn’t come and after we left England I never saw

him again.

When we arrived at the docks and saw the ship, it was the biggest

ship I had ever seen in my life. I was very excited. But when got inside the

ship my excitement was gone because there were a lot people and there

wasn’t much space inside.

After four days of traveling I was very

bored. There weren’t many kids in the ship

traveling. The crew people didn’t allow us to play

a lot because they didn’t want us to get sick. I

didn’t understand why, but I heard that there was

a man on board that said that he would throw

people to the big blue ocean if we did get sick. So

my parents also didn’t allow me to have fun.

On 12th day of traveling the weather

was very bad. There was a lot of rain and

thunderstorms. I was very scared. It rained

for a long time that even the ship started to

break apart which I never thought it was

possible because it was big.

Page 7: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

The adults had to decide if to keep on going

to go back home because they thought it wouldn’t

make. At the end they decided that the ship was

“seaworthy” or in good form we landed in a place

called Cape Cod.

Page 8: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

Cape Cod was not what I expected. It

was a empty place. There were no houses or

shops. All there was just dirt and grass. It was

also very cold. It even started snowing.

Page 9: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

We stayed there for the whole winter season.

After a few moths people that were traveling died

because of the cold. I was very sad but my mum told

me they were going to a happy warmer place and I felt

much better after that.

Page 10: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

After the winter season was over I met a

strange man with bronze skin and long black hair who

did not speak the same language as I did. His name

was Samoset.

Page 11: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

Samoset taught us plant corn which

is something we did know how to. He also

taught us how to fish. He also taught us the

land around us and he said that he was a

native.

Page 12: My Trip Across the Big Blue Ocean

After living there for a long time we became a community

and I made new friend and played with them. Thanks to Samoset we

didn’t have to starve and build houses and hunted and grew corn.

After time more people started arriving from England and our new

home became more big and better than my old home in England. And

we became a big happy family after we crossed the big blue ocean.
