• The first reference about the existence of Most comes from 1040 and it can be found in the Cosma’s Czech Chronicle.

• Most was at the beginning a settlement with a market place on a crossway of the old long-distance roads.

• The market place developed in an important economic centre in connection with the growing significance of the castle, which has been built in the years 1238-1248 instead of the original stronghold on the hill Hněvín.

• At the end of the 13th century has Most a characteristic look of a gothic town and fulfils a role of a new economical and socially-juridical formation.

• At the end of the 15th century was Most a rich town on the way of a good economic development. The hopefully outlooks for a development were defeated by a big fire in 1515. Fortunately, buildings destroyed by the fire have been renewed in a short time
