Jun 10 2017 12-2pm My Queens, My Neighborhood, and Me! ¡Mi Queens, Mi Barrio y Yo! Join us for a celebration of student work. There will be refreshments and snacks served! Bring your family, friends and neighbors. A student at PS 14 sketches at a busy corner at 108th Street This year each group of students took a special look at their local communities. Together with youth, teaching artists, teachers, librarians and community members we asked: What makes a neighborhood strong? What do you see in your neighborhood? And, who do you see? Through a range of creative forms including, but not limited to: murals, pop-up art and photography, youth stepped out of their classrooms and into the adventure of art in, for and about community. ¡Mi Queens, Mi Barrio y Yo! My Queens,My Neighborhood, and Me!

Celebremos juntos el trabajo de los estudiantes! Se servirán refrescos y aperitivos! Venga con su familia, amigos y vecinos.

Este año, diferentes grupos de estudiantes prestaron especial atención a sus comunidades y junto con sus maestros, bibliotecarios y miembros de la comunidad se preguntaron: ¿Qué hace que un barrio sea poderoso? ¿Qué ves en tu vecindario? Y, ¿a quién ves? Y, a través de una variedad de formas de expresión creativas que incluyeron, pero que no se limitaron a murales sino también que contemplaron Pop-Art y fotografía los jóvenes abandonaron sus aulas y se sumergieron en la aventura del arte en comunidad.

Expondremos trabajos de nuestros estudiantes que forman parte de los Programas después de la escuela que incluyen: CASA en PS 14, PS 135, PS 99, IS 125 y Bell Academy, Matisse After-school programs en: MS 217 and Community Art Hack, la Biblioteca de la Comunidad Langston Hughes y Centro Cultural, Taller de dominical para familias y en el programa de la escuela secundaria.
