WGSS Grad Trans Student Presentation Package -3-
Introduction
The revised Graduation Transitions program is designed to support every BC
graduate in the acquisition of the attributes that characterize students graduating in
all schools across British Columbia. These attributes include intellectual
development; social development; and career development as prescribed on the
website http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/graduation/.
Grad Transitions 12 is a requirement for graduation. Students who do not
complete the requirements of the program will not be eligible for graduation.
This program is intended to prepare students for a successful transition to life after
secondary school by taking ownership of their own health and learning; finding
connections between their learning and their future and use that connection to
create a plan for continued development in health and living areas as well as
education and career opportunities.
Graduation Transitions consists of FOUR components:
o Introduction (Personal Information)
o Community Connections
o Career & Life Transition planning
o My Passion
The grad transitions course is worth four (4) credits towards graduation. Students
must complete the requirements listed for each area of reflection in order to
receive the four credits for graduation.
Upon successful completion of the program, a Requirement Met (RM) mark will
appear on the final report card.
Attendance Requirements
All graduating students will be required to take the
Grad Transitions course in their timetable. You
will be scheduled to either attend Semester 1
(Sept) or Semester 2 (Jan) classes. Attendance is
mandatory until you are complete and cleared
by advisor. All required components should be
completed by the end of the semester and be
ready for presentation. Once approval has been
given by your advisor, the remainder of the course
year may be used as scholarship prep block.

Presentation Overview
You will spend your time in grad trans building a digital presentation that will then
be presented to a community member, teacher, or administrator. The presentation
should be between 10 and 12 minutes in length. It is important that your
presentation include ALL the required components outlined in this package.
Students MAY NOT schedule their own presentation, but instead will be assigned
a day and time by their advisor.
Your final presentation must be completed and ready to present on or
before your assigned presentation date on APRIL 4 & 5, 2016
What to Bring/What to Wear to the Presentation
When showing up for the presentation, you will need to bring the following:
Proof of 30 hours of Work/Volunteer time
Proof of 130 Hours Daily Physical Activity
An updated resume (pre-approved)
A signed cover letter (pre-approved)
A signed letter of reference (pre-approved)
A signed copy of the practice presentation verification form
Any additional proof of achievement you wish to share
(awards, certificates, published work, etc)
Students are expected to treat the presentation like a professional job interview.
You should therefore be dressing appropriately. Please be prepared for your
presentation by wearing a “business casual” outfit. Students showing up in non-
appropriate attire will not be permitted to present.

Note to Audience Member
This student has selected you to be the audience for his or her practice grad transition final presentation. Over the
past few months, all graduating students have been working on a comprehensive presentation all about themselves.
This presentation outlines personal information, achievements, physical activity analysis, work/volunteer experience
analysis, and plans for post-graduation. Prior to each student delivering their final presentation to an advisor, they
are expected to perform a practice session with someone they are comfortable with.
This presentation should be approximately 10-12 minutes long. We ask that you consider the
following and give appropriate feedback to the student:
Does the student avoid just “reading off the screen”
but instead presents the information to you?
Does the student make eye contact with you as much
as possible?
Does the student give genuine and honest
responses?
I have watched ____________________________’s grad transition presentation and feel it is ready for an
official presentation.
