Persephoni Moore October 12, 2010 EDU 206 Management Procedures Since the theme of my classroom will be stars, I will use my “Superstar” bulletin board to manage my students’ behavior. On my Superstar board, all of my students are color coded according to which color group they belong to. This board c an manage individual behaviors as well as group behaviors. This is helpful so that I am not punishing a group for an individual’s misbehavior .Each student’s star will be Velcro-ed to the board so if a student were to misbehave, they will be able to easily move their star to t he appropriate place on the board. According to my illustration, here are t he procedures that will go with my S uperstar board: 1. Everyday students will start off with a clean-slate. All st udents’ stars begin in the $10 spot. 2. If a student or a gro up misbehaves or does not follow the rules, they will rece ive two verbal warnings before their star, or stars are moved to their group color and they will lose a total of $1 “Starbuck”, from the $10 Starbucks, for the day. 3. If a student or a gro up misbehaves or does not follow the rules a second time, they will lose a yet another $5 Starbucks and will lose a special privilege for the day, for example, Loss of Computer time. 4. If a student or a gro up misbehaves or does not follow the rules a third time, they will receive no Starbucks for the day and a call and/or a note to be signed by the parent or guardian will be the consequences for the student or students. 5. Any and all students have a chance to move back up in the to the $10 spot if their behavior improves throughout the day and I see it fit to do so. 6. At the end of eac h day, students or groups will receive their amount S tarbucks to be used at the end of each week. Starbucks can be used for treasure chest or a classroom auction on an item I bring in at the beginning of each week. An example of my management plan, according to the example is Megan in the gree n group. As you can see, Megan has already had two w arnings for disrupting student’s learning and the teacher’s teac hing. Megan will only receive $4 Starbucks today. If Megan we re to receive her third and final warning, she will not receive any Starbucks today and a call or note home will be her consequence for misbehaving. However, even though Megan may have two warnings for being disruptive in class and has a loss of a special privilege, if she were to come into class after lunch, gets right to work, and improves her behavior over all through out the day, I, or she, will be able to move her star back to only losing $1 Starbuck for the day and possibly getting it back to the $10 Star bucks spot.
