Common & Proper Nouns

Common Nouns: Refer to something that is not unique and has no defining characteristics. Eg: desk, chair

Proper Nouns: Refers to a unique person, place, thing, or idea; that has defining characteristics. They are always written with the first letter capitalized.Eg: Temulak, Mahathir

What is a concrete or abstract noun?

Concrete Noun• Names a thing that is

tangible (seen, touched, heard, smelled, or tasted).

• Can either be common or proper.

Abstract Noun• Names an idea, a

condition, or a feeling. • Simply said, something

that can not be eaten, seen, heard, or smelled.
