Log Cabin “Mug Block”:1. Take A and set aside.2. Sew top edge of B to bottom edge of C. 3. Trace flower and leaves to paper back fusible webbing. Cut around images out and iron to fabrics. Cut images out of fabric and take papers off the back and position on to B. Make little stitches around the flower as shown on diagram. 4. Fold the top edge of C to bottom edge of B with wrong sides together. Press piece. 1/4” of C will be showing at the top of what will be your pocket. 5. Pin pocket to piece A. Set aside.

Sew Log Cabin Block Together:1. Looking at picture sew log cabin logs together in alphabetical order. Start with D and sew with right sides together to pocket piece. Press and continue sewing until you finish with K.

Rick-rack and lace:Lay rick-rack along the Log Cabin block on the right side edge. Pin. Lay lace on top of rick-rack and pin again (I don’t like it to move, as I am doing this process). Lay Stitchery Block with right sides together on top of lace and re-pin pins through all layers. Sew a 1/4” seam. Press.

Batting:Cut one warm and natural and one muslin backing, using Mug Rug whole block as a template. Lay muslin backing then batting and on top your mug rug block. Using safety pins, pin in place as you quilt as desired. I quilted on each log,

Strip around the mug rug:Take your strip and fold one edge in about 1/4”. Start at bottom at the middle of the mug rug and pin strip with right side together to mug rug edge. Pin through all thicknesses. Miter the corners. There are lots of tutorials on the web if you need help.

Hello sweet friends, I hope you have as much fun sewing this up, as I did designing it. I have never made a mug rug before...... this was new for me and I will definitely be making more! This pattern is easy, so that makes it nice for a beginner. Great for a gift. Line a basket with fabric....tuck in a mug rug, cup filled with extra tea bags or instant coffee packets. Make a batch of scones, slip them into a cellophane bag, tie a ribbon at the top and you have a super gift, how about taking one to a lady that is living in a nursing home! Just an idea!

Hugs and blessings from my farm to your home and HAPPY STITCHIN’,Linda and Family
