Lancaster's Settlement

• Between the 18 and 1900’s immigrants from Germany came to Lancaster for freedom of religion and good farm land.

Bowmansville• Three Things I like about Bowmansville-Clean, Good pizza shop,

and everyone's Friendly.• Three things I don’t like about Bowmansville- The Squirrels, the

busy road, and dogs barking at night. • Weather Patterns- Rains about once a week, Hot in the

summer, Cold in the winter, In the morning there is usually fog.

• Nearest watershed- Susquehanna River• Two human practices that help the water in our watershed- Don’t

litter, and pick up any litter if seen.• Two human practices that hurt the water in our watershed-

Littering, and dumping sewage in the water.

Bowmansville Continued…

• Five native plants to Bowmansville- Oak Trees, dandelions, Wild Strawberries, Crab Grass, and Maple Trees.

• Three common birds- Chickadees, Robins, and Blue Jays.

• Three common mammals- White Tail Deer, Opossums, and Squirrels.

• Energy Sources- Power plant, Hydroelectric Power, and Solar Power.

• Environmental Problem- Litter along the road.

• Two interesting facts about my environment- We have small patches of forests everywhere, and we have lots of farm land.

My Home And Life

• My Water comes from a well.

• My family recycles bottles, but we throw away everything else. Our trash goes to the dump.

• There is recycling in my home. Our recyclables go to a factory which turns them into new bottles.

• Our sewage gets stored in a septic tank. Then after a long time a truck comes and takes it to a processing plant where it is turned into fertilizer for plants.

Habitats Around my House

• Around my house there are many different habitats. One of those is a forest. It is full of trees and wildlife. A role my family plays in these habitats is we use them for fun like hunting which keeps populations at a controllable level. Another habitat near my home is a pond. The pond also is home to some wildlife and some plants. The role my family plays in this habitat is we don’t litter which keeps habitats clean. Like the pond. One more habitat near my house is a field. Many bugs, animals, and plants call this place home. The role my family plays in this habitat is by also not litter which could cause plants and animals to die. Those are some of the habitats around my home.

Food

• Papa Johns Pizza- All ingredients are shipped from the headquarters in Jefferson, Kentucky.

• Subway Subs- Ingredients come from farms and are then packaged for transport.

• Wal-Mart Spinach and Artichoke dip- Most food and other products from Walmart are made in China.

• Old El Paso Tacos- The shells are made in mills in France, Great Britain, and Sweden.

• Sausage- Most sausage is produced in European countries, but some in the US.

Is My House Environmentally Friendly

• Overall my house is descent when it comes to being environmentally friendly. We have a recycling bin for recycling. Also we use geothermal for heating our house instead of oil.
