The Haunted MindeBook

This eBook was created by myself in a Web/Multimedia Design cour se at Purdue Univer sity. I chose a shor t stor y to develop into an eBook and created a cover that would embody the stor y through a ser ies of sketches and color studies. Also I drew al l of the i l lustrations and wrote the code for an actual downloadable ver sion of the book. The cover and i l lustrations were developed using Photoshop and I l lustrator, and the Dreamweaver for the coding. Shown here are color and black and white render ings of the cover, as well as a few sample pages from the actual eBook.

HelveticaFlash calculator app, 320x480 px

Using Flash, I developed this working calculator application for iPhone in a Web/Multimedia cour se at Purdue Univer sity. I had to choose from a given typography l ist , and after sketching different calculator s using different types of typography, I chose Helvetica. My inspiration for the design of the calculator was Bauhaus, using vibrant color s and clean l ines to emulate that par ticular style . Also, ActionScr ipt 2.0 was used to make the calculator ful ly functional . Shown here is the finished product, the color s used in the design, and a few of the typographic studies.

GagaismiPhone Wallpaper Series

Using I l lustrator and Photoshop, I developed these Lady Gaga inspired wallpaper s for iPhone in a Web/Multimedia cour se at Purdue Univer sity. The basis of this project was to develop color schemes within a subject ser ies, and I felt that Lady Gaga was perfect because she was ver y popular at the time . Through a ser ies of color studies, a vision was born out of inspiration from her famous 2009 MTV VMA performance and many of her other crazy outfits . To unify the ser ies, I used the textured backgrounds with accents from each of the outfits in opposing corner s.

Util iz ing Photoshop as well as I l lustrator, I developed this large scale poster for a Poster Design class. The social issues topic I chose was human trafficking, and also did al l of the research, photography, edit ing and design for the poster. By cutting off the per son at the neck, it deper sonalized it a bit to indicate that the horror of human trafficking can happen to anyone . As a way to add an ominous and myster ious aspect to the poster, I chose to only have the tit le of the poster and the website to refer to for information about the issue .

Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Gather ingredients (note: keep butter chilled until needed for topping), two bowls and a pie dish; wash, peel, and slice apples and place store bought pice crust into pie dish.

Combine 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg. Stir in apple slices and transfer to pie crust.

Combine 1/2 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Cut chilled butter into mixture and combine with fork until fully mixed and crumbly (this takes some work, so put some muscle into it!). Sprinkle over apples.

Place about 3 inches of tin foil over edge of crust to prevent burning. Place on the middle rack of your oven and bake for 45-50 minutes or until topping is a light golden brown.

Serve pie warm. Top with whipped topping or a scoop of ice cream. ENJOY!

Easy as PieDirectional/Informational Poster

This poster’s purpose was to be either informative on a place or topic , or directional by giving directions from point A to point B . I designed “Easy as Pie” to look outside the box of a typical directional poster and per sonal to my love of baking. Identified the problem that most people tend to have mistakes with recipes due to the separation of the ingredients from directions. The solution devised was a time l ine layout to combine ingredients with directions into five easy steps. Photoshop used for the photo editing and I l lustrator for the layout design.

As a par t of a Typography cour se , I was given two letter s to use in creating a combination mark and the letter s given to me were F and H. By using a specific typography l ist , I went through a ser ies of about one hundred sketches or so to arr ive at a final product. Once the final product was decided upon, I developed a book with a shor t stor y l ine to showcase the progress to finished product, and then worked closely with Purdue Pr inting Ser vices to create the ful l book.

Annie’s HomegrownRebranding and repackaging

In a Branding and Package Design cour se , we were to select any packaging, with the exception of l iquids, to rebrand and repackage . My decision was to stick with something that I am famil iar with and buy often, which was Annie’s Homegrown Total ly Natural and Organic food products. The problem with this pre-existing packaging that I wanted to solve was the overwhelming lack of a cohesive and clean look across the products. I l lustrator was used to design the packaging, and the photos were taken by myself , with editing done in Photoshop.

Given to me were a bank of images to choose from, to then create a heading and sub head to accompany the image I decided upon, the camera. These are a few samples of adver tisements that I am required to create for the local television network on Purdue Univer sity’s campus. Campus organizations submit ad requests that I accept and have to execute into a 640x260 pixel confinement, that causes me to have to be more creative with the layout. Photoshop and I l lustrator are used to develop the adver tisement designs for jpg fi les.

This is a freelance piece developed by working closely with the cl ient, creating proofs and presenting them, and executing a final ver sion. Venus FlytrapIdentity and Branding Design

In a Pr int design cour se at Purdue Univer sity I was given the freedom of selecting any l iving organism to brand and create an identity for by abstracting the subject. My organism of choice was the Venus Flytrap because I felt that it would be a chal lenging subject to brand. I solved problems by creating a detai led abstraction in the top left depiction, then fur ther abstracting it to help create the logo and combination marks you see in the bottom two images.
