Gartner’s MPS and MCS Magic Quadrant Document Systems is proud to represent Gartner’s Magic Quadrant’s Leaders in the Managed Print Services (MPS)

and Managed Content Services (MCS) report for 2015. Gartner’s report is a

useful starting point for identifying and evaluating MPS and MCS providers.

The providers in this Magic Quadrant have the geographical scale to attend to

your office printing needs across world regions in a coordinated way.

Canon (Challenger) - Canon qualifies as a Challenger because it has sol-idly demonstrated the core MPS elements and provides the core elements of MCS through some of its business units. It nevertheless bids on global MPS less frequently than the Leaders in this Magic Quadrant, and it exhibits more variation in the scale and nature of its MPS and MCS activities from region to region.

HP, Inc. (Leader) - Most MPS providers lead with cost savings, but the printers and MFPs are also a weak link in IT security. HP Inc. has added security features and services in recent months and years. Since security is a moving target, HP Inc. trains all of its print technical specialists worldwide about the latest advances in security, even to the extent of annual, in-person training at its world headquarters.

Lexmark (Leader) - Lexmark is a Leader because it successfully provides its MPS and MCS to many large and midsize customers across industries and regions, even including, for example, banks with branches throughout Brazil.

Lexmark excels in vertical MCS. It fields 18 solutions across its core verticals of banking, healthcare, manufacturing, retail and government, as well as insurance and transportation. Most of these solutions automate a major process in an industry, such as policy generation in insurance. More solutions of this kind are likely to follow, now that Lexmark has acquired Kofax, which specializes in document capture software.

Ricoh (Leader) - Ricoh is a Leader because for years, it has invested heavily in MPS and MCS, and it has a deep and far-reaching sales and service operation. Ricoh is thus able to provide its extensive MPS and MCS program to a large and diverse worldwide customer base, which includes customers of all sizes and types.

Quadrant DescriptionsLeaders - Leaders provide MPS and MCS to a wide range of customers, including the largest and most geographically dispersed, so they must demonstrate a truly global reach. They must demonstrate not only the skills to deliver today’s MPS and MCS, but also the understanding, initiative and resources to prepare for tomorrow’s MPS and MCS. Leaders characteristically augment the full scope of MPS with a wide range of added-value services. As a result, they are frequently shortlisted by large and midsize customers.

Challengers - Although Challengers have solidly demonstrated that they provide the core elements of MPS and MCS, they communicate a less complete view of the market direction than Leaders. The package of services they offer and the way it is marketed may also cater to a somewhat narrower range of company sizes and industries than that of Leaders. Even when the customers are the same as for Leaders, the scope of engagement may be narrower.

Visionaries - Visionaries thoroughly understand today’s market and also know how to address customers’ future needs and expectations. In the aggregate, they provide a wide range of MPS to a diverse range of customers and are showing vision on MCS offerings.

Niche Players - Niche Players meet all our inclusion criteria but provide a more-narrow range of services to a more-narrow range of customers than the other vendors. They may be a cost-effective choice for customers whose requirements, scale and geographical scope happen to be a good match. They may also cater to specific industries. Some customers also report that the Niche Players pay them especially close attention and are generally more accommodating than the other vendors.
