My Advice to the CNF:

Give and Get Love;

Do Not Give and Get Hatred

By Taang Zomi

In any struggle against a stronger power, one needs to give love to, and get love from, the

populace. You are already against a power stronger than you. You are the weaker one.

Therefore you should seek all the help and support you can get. You should get help and at

least moral support from the public, even from government servants. If you do not get the

love and co-operation of the very people you claim to work for, how can you succeed in

working for them?

People tend to forget lessons from history. For example, Napoleon made the mistake of

attacking Russia during the unbearably cold winter. He had to withdraw in defeat. Hitler

committed the same mistake: he attacked the Soviet Union during the unbearably cold

winter. And he met the same fate: he had to withdraw in defeat.

My Advice to CNF Taang Zomi

In the same way, the CNF forgets lessons from history.

Why do many armed struggles against the established governments fail?

Answer: because those who struggle against governments behave like the very governments

they accuse of wrongdoing.Answer: because they believe in their arms, not in the people. That is a fatal mistake for a

so-called people's resistance movement.

Why did the Communist Party Burma, the Karen National Defence Organization, and a

host of other armed insurrection forces fail? Answer: because they robbed, tortured, raped,

and killed the very people they claimed to serve, set free, etc.

Why did the Communist Party of Viet Nam, led by Ho Chi Min, succeed against the French

colonialists and the Americans? Answer: because they believed in the people, and even

people from South Viet Nam (where American forces were stationed) supported the Party

(which was in North Viet Nam). Those who were called Viet Cong were people from SouthViet Nam who co-operated with the Communist Party of Viet Nam.

Forcing people to give you money against their will is robbery. You are supposed to be

Christians. It is entirely against Christian principles and morality to steal or rob.

Killing people is a serious crime in secular law and a deadly sin in Christian faith.

As an organization, you need funds. But acquire funds in a fair way. For example, show the

people that you care for them. Make self-sacrifices. Then, people will be touched to their

soul, and they will willingly give you money, food, shelter, etc., without being forced to.

You have read about Robin Hood. If you have to rob, rob the government. And then give

the money to poor people. People forgave Robin Hood the Robber, because he got the love

of the common people.

People are not impressed with empty talks. They do not understand you when you talk

about love, and at the same time you kill some of them. Show them your love and care for

them in action.

Do not behave as if your organization were a Christian movement. Keep politics and

religion separate. Don't rob, rape, torture and kill, all in the name of Christ. Don't mention

Christ at all. Do not try to set up a Christian kingdom or republic. Keep yourselves be asecular, political organization. Chinland belongs not only to Christians but also to people of

other religions. If you do not like the SPDC because of their making Buddhism the state

religion, then don't imitate them; don't try to make Christianity our state religion. A true

religion does not need any help from the government.

Many Chin people regard you as a gang of robbers and murderers. Show them, by your

My Advice to CNF Taang Zomi

We all concern the well being of ourselves and our people. This is a serious matter, unless dealt

with wisely, there could be a serious consequence in the future, near or far.

Please look and share your opinion,

Questions to the Chin resistance

movement?????

Recently there have been some CNF’s tax collection activities inside Chin state. At the same

time, the Burmese soldiers have been severely increasing their movement, endangering the localcitizens.

CNF taxation: according to the reliable sources, the CNF soldiers collected by force Ks. 3,000 per household.

Gun firing: Recently, there were two incidents reported. The CNF members and the Burmese

soldier encountered where and when they fired each other. According to the information, oneBurmese sergeant was shot to death near Chawnghoih village, Falam District.

The increasing nature of local citizens’ sufferings:

Curfew: Curfew has been ordered in the border areas, especially in Falam district, ranging from

Tlauhmun village to the Tio River. Local citizens are depending on shifting cultivation. Curfewmeans to them, a threat to their lives, future starvation.

Increasing torture:

The reason for the Burmese soldiers: the CNF tax collection. Providing financial support to theCNF. There are two villager head still under custody, one being taken to the army camp.

heated iron. The Tiadai village head is seriously injured and other villagers as well.

Increasing army patrolling:

One more battalion from Mungzya is going up to Chin hills very soon.

The Burmese army’s current condition: currently, the Burmese army does not have war to fightin the east, and south-eastern-Shan State, Kachin State, and in Karen State where seriously ethnic

war has taken place for more 50 years.

Question for the Chins:

1) Should it be wise to increase or keep armed force activities (of the resistence) inside Chin

state?2) Will the local citizens able to endure the hardship and torture?

3) What could be the potential impact of the tax money given by the local citizens?

4) Is local tax money going to have impact for the current political process?5) Will the local citizens continue to pay forced tax at gun point?

6) What could be the worst scenarios if both go the same way?7) Should the Chin continue to keep armed force resistance against the SPDC?

8) Can the CNF (the tax collectors) provide protection to local citizens when tortured by theBurmese soldiers?
