My Adventure:
intention:
Images:
A little bee: I saw a bee on the cement where the trail started. I think the bee was dying, as it moved very slowly and didn’t fly even when we got close. This made me sad, especially knowing how important bees are to sustaining the ecosystem and all the plants and crops within. We spent at least 5 minutes just intensely observing the bee. I grew an appreciation for the life cycle as well.
Yuke post-hike: Yuke originally didn’t want to go, as she felt tired, but I was able to convince her to go. After the hike, she was more aware. I asked her how she felt after the hike, and she did state that she was glad she went on the hike with us. Following the intention I chose, my

friends and I were able to appreciate the little things, such as the conversations we shared while walking, and all the catching up we did. In addition, I realized how soothing the soft crunch of the trail is!
Mixed Scenery:
Southern California has a dry climate, meaning there’s not a lot of natural greenery, but more desert-accustomed native shrubbery. This image shows the contrast between the bright greens of the planted tree, juxtaposed against the grays and reds of the desert shrubbery behind. This shows the variation in nature.
Reflection:
My intention was “Appreciate Small Things”! This influenced my adventure, as I was
more attentive to small details I usually skip over. In addition, I engaged my senses more,
either my listening closely to background sounds, or scanning the ground and sides for small

details. This was how I discovered the bee on the floor, and realized how soothing soft
crunching sounds (from our shoes on the trail) is!
This experience made me feel relaxed, tranquil and better connected to my friends and
the environment. After taking special care to look for beauty in every small corner in nature, I
felt an even deeper connection and appreciation for the environment. This strengthens my
desire to protect our Earth, and all the beautiful life it houses. I know I play a role in how
climate crisis progresses, and I will take every step to first, personally work to become a wholly
sustainable and environmentally aware person so I can spread the message and practices to
others.
