After joining Iron Sword in 2013, I organized and led the effort to align the company under a Mission, Vision, and set of Principles. I initiated the process at a strategy retreat with the executive team—CEO, VP Finance & Operations, and VP Construction & Energy Services (me)—and continued the process of development, refinement and buyin with the entire company at our Core Alignment and Development Initiative (CADI) Meeting, which I developed along with Matt Baker, VP Finance & Operations. We mobilized the team around the following MVP (see below) and the results were tremendous. We had the most profitable year to date in 2014 and built our capabilities and team. Mission: To be our clients’ business of choice for reliable and unique construction solutions by delivering projects honorably, timely, and costeffectively. Vision: 1. To be a company that is distinguished by competence and character. 2. To promote opportunities for America’s veterans and their families. Principles: We of IRON SWORD strive to: 1. Lead by example. 2. Obey the law, in letter and in spirit. 3. Act with integrity in everything we do. 4. Own and take responsibility for every action or omission. 5. Treat everyone with respect. 6. Choose a positive attitude.
