Question: Hello! I have two questions: 1. Is it a big deal for the network virtualization under the SCVMM 2012 SP1
management to function well if the Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager DHCP Server extension's version on Hyper-V host #1 (functioning) is 16.16.1.41 and on another Hyper-V host #2 (NOT functioning) is 21.11.34.995. The overall problem is that the DHCP on the Hyper-V host is not distributing the IP addresses to the "Customer" VMs. Both Hyper-V hosts are up-to-date. Thank you very much Another question to come... Answer: Hi alex22 the best way is go to http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/categories and post here

Question: How to get the traffic from the VM Networks in SCVMM 2012 SP1 to LAN and to the Internet? Should it be
the hardware or software gateway installed? Where to read or view the presentation? Answer: You need a VM Gateway for this to work, Microsoft are getting close to share one which will integrate with
VMM, and some 3rd parties are also going to show this functionality at MMS. the alternative is that you spin your own - simply a VM with 2 NICs, one with Virtual networks, and one with real network, then running routing services. Damian

Question: I tried to set up a Server 2003 R2 64-bit VM on a Server 2012 host, but it doesn't recognize the virtual
network card. I think I need Integration Services for Server 2003. Is this correct and where do I find it? Answer: There are two registry keys required for WDF to function correctly.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Wdf01000 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_WDF01000 Compare these keys to a working guest with Integration components installed. If the keys are different or missing, this may be the problem. Backup the current keys on the guest experiencing the problem, then export a copy of the keys from the known good system, and replace the ones on the failing guest with the known good set. Reboot the VM, and open device manager. The Virtual Machine Bus should now be working and the other devices for Hyper-V should be detected. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2021733?wa=wsignin1.0

Question: Hello from Germany! Why 'must' the Hyper-V Server in a Domain? So ... how I should put a new hyper-v
Server into a Domain, when I install the DC Server on the hyper-v later? Answer: Hyper-V doesn't require the server to be domain joine.d. If you want the hyper-V server to be part of a
failover cluster then they must be domain joined. Also, some features of Hyper-V may require domain services, such as live migration. You can virtualize your domain controlers by putting them in a VM, but remember that if you shut down your host the VM will be shut down and when the hyper-V host starts the DC won't be there when you start the host, not until you get the VM started. Also, best practice is to have more than one DC. So if you have 2 hyper-V hosts putting a DC in a VM on each will allow you to turn one of the hosts off and the VM on the other host will be available when the host starts again.
09:43:10 PDT
Question: I just went to download Hyper-V 2012 and saw this at the bottom of the screen: "By downloading the

09:45:49 PDT
Question: Are there any plans to provide RESTful API for Hyper-V? Answer: Great question - the approach is via SCVMM, with the "SPF" suite which is now shipped with SP1, this is a
full REST API for VMM, and getting extended with support for other parts of SC.
09:45:52 PDT
Question: Is the “Service Provider Foundation” and its REST based WS intended to be used for programmatically
(remotely) manage Hyper-V hosts? Or is using WMI for Hyper-V management more powerful? Answer: Depending upon your needs you can choose SPF REST OData APIs. Otherwise you can use WMI &
PowerShell independent of SPF to manage Hyper-V Environment remotely.
09:46:20 PDT
Question: Can Hyper-V live migrate vmware VMs over to Hyper-V? Answer: No, but we have a couple of different options. We have SCVMM and we have a free tool called Microsoft
Virtual Machine Converter that can convert from VMware 4.x/5 to Hyper-V.

Question: Re: Migrate a Cluster Wizard, how about dealing with processor differences? Answer: VM's can't migrate between vendors (Intel/AMD) however within the family you can always migrate up i.e.
from an older Intel to a newer Intel CPU. If you want to go from newer to older you can enable CPU computability which will limit the VM to only the common features allowing migration from newer to older.
09:50:54 PDT
Question: Can the Server 2012 shared storage (direct attached SMB3) be virtual systems running on the same
physical hosts that have Hyper-V 2012 installed? Answer: Yes. You can have a Windows 2012/Windows 8 virtual machine that is running on the same host that
provides the storage share. You cannot have the share as part of the same physical host.

Question: In the Help above, I read that "features of Hyper-V may require domain services, such as live migration".
Does this only apply to Server 2012/Hyper-V Server? I read somewhere that it's possible to live migrate to non-domain computers (e.g. workgroup computers) with System Center 2012. Is this true? Answer: Live migration requires domain authentication. VMM has a feature called quick migration which can work
across workgroup servers but does have some downtime for VM's.

Question: Hi ZeroClient can you explain your question little bit more about vGPU passthrough support in HYPER-V? Answer: Hyper-V includes RemoteFX which allows us to provide physical GPU resources within a VM. However, it's
not pass-through because pass-through has a bunch of limitations. No Live Migration, it doesn't scale (1:1 GPU to VM), can't save state VM, can't pause VM and the list goes on...
