CHURCHSAFE TRAINING It is a great relief that, eighteen months after the deadline setb the Archbishop, our parish now has a critical mass of people who have undertakenChurchSafe training. The Safe Church Training Agreement is in place across more than 30

churches and organisations. It is an organised response to the realit that churches haveoften not been safe places. Child abuse b representatives of the church has been vervisible - but there are countless others who have suffered through bull ing, harassment, emotional manipulation, burnout, ph sical injuries, discrimination and exclusion. The SafeChurch Training Agreement is about dramatic change in the culture of churches. It is onl a‘chore’ or a ‘hassle’ if ou choose it to be.

Please be aware of the following: An one who is seen to publicl represent the AnglicanChurch in an wa must participate in ChurchSafe Training. This expectation will be enforcedas of 1 Januar 2012. Further ChurchSafe Training opportunities will be publicised as thebecome available.

An person who has unsupervised contact, or who is seen to exercise ministr amongstminors, also requires a current Working With Children Check . Please see the Rector tosign your application, which you then take to a Post Of ce.

Church Councillors, Wardens and La Pastoral Ministers are required to undertake aVolunteer National Police Chec k.

Clerg are required to undertake all of the above, as well as undergoing ps chologicalevaluation prior to ordination, ongoing criminal record checks, regular professionalsupervision and ongoing professional development in child protection.
