The intent of this space is to be a noted destination and draw people to Old Town. Delicious cuisine, a great wine selection, and a bold design will bring customers back over and over. During the time surrounding their meal they will spend more time exploring

the surrounding area. This space intends to have a positive impact on the overall economy of the area.

Jackson Pollock Painting The free flowing organic forms are reflected in the desire for an open, yet intimate floor plan and eating experience. Although chaotic, this fine painting’s earthy colors provide a sense of comfort. Just as life of

the typical diner is chaotic, Wild Mustang will be a luxury place to hideaway. The unexpected twists and turns within the painting reflect the surprise architectural and decorative elements in design details

throughout the space. The Wild Mustang Wine Bar & Eatery will be as unexplainably wonderful and luxurious as an abstract impressionist painting by American Artist Jackson Pollock.

Wild Mustang Wine Bar & Eatery will create a unique fine dining experience that will be a distinct destination within the Old Town Community. While waiting for a table and after their meals restaurant goers will have the opportunity to stroll through Old Town to sample local shops and experiences. By serving only items found within Michigan the restaurant will be supporting local farms and wineries. The goal is to keep everything local, sustainable, and to create a fine dining experience that is truly Michigan, all while stimulating the local economy.

The Wild Mustang Wine Bar & Eatery is an environment that fosters intimate gatherings between large groups and couples. As you enter on the first floor there is a casual waiting room with seats and space for standing. The host stand allows you entry to the dining area. As you are lead to your seat you will pass the open kitchen where one can peak in at the action. There is an office connected to the kitchen for operational business and storage of employee coats and bags. The dining floor is very open with clear site lines allowing views of Old Town and the Grand River which can be further enjoyed on the seasonally available patio. There are two bus stations on the dining floor with extra plates, silverware and cups. The two single stall accessible restrooms are near the internal entry to the wine cellar and lounge in the basement. The wine cellar and lounge can be accessed from the first floor or through it’s own accessible entry off of the parking lot. The cash wrap greets you at the entry and also acts as an informal host stand. Groups may choose to sit in one of the comfortable lounge like atmospheres or at traditional table or bar settings. The bar itself will incorporate the original Mustang Bar fixture and the back wall will store bottles and bottles of wine which will be available for purchase. The lower level also has accessible restrooms and a bus station. Customers can choose to visit one or both spaces as a part of their dining and wine tasting experience.

The shimmer of this image will inspire the overall feel of the space. A feeling of luxury that is welcoming, comfortable, yet stimulating will flow from room to room and level to level. A simple color palette will allow for highlighting architectural elements, yet allowing the focus to be on the merchandise. The random pattern within the image reflects the architectural and decorative elements in design details throughout the space. Synthesis & Conclusion

INT

ER

IOR

S

The sustainable and modern design of both the Mustang Wine Bar & Eatery and House of Temple Boutique & Show Room is credited to evidentiary design. Taking the information gathered from site analysis, personal experience and research; the spaces morphed into a swanky restaurant & upscale boutique respectively.

The spaces that have been created will draw a diverse crowd to the Old Town area for fine dining and a fabulous shopping experience. Ultimately these facilities will have a positive impact on the community and their potential success will encourage further growth and development in the area.

During the second semester I hope to further explore design solutions and incorporate as much local material and labor as possible creating spaces made for the community by their own members.
