– Now: • Just Over 2,000 students• 11 Different Honours Programs• Owns 13 Buildings

Mustang’s Den

• Why Laurier Brantford is good for Brantford– Brantford was a “manufacturer’s town”– Businesses closed – leaving many out of a job– Since then – Brantford doesn’t have a way to draw

people into our city• A reason to move here!

– Young adults leave for university and never come back

Mustang’s Den

• Why Brantford is good for Laurier– Laurier’s main campus is located in Waterloo– They have run out of space to expand their

student population– Laurier has a small student population as far as

University’s go– They opened up a satellite campus here in order

to expand their school, programs and also to make more $$$$$$$

WLU CAMPUS

Downtown Brantford Development Plans

The Laurier Athletic Centre/ YMCA

Downtown Street Conversion

• It has been proposed – and most likely to pass at city council to convert Colborne and Dalhousie to 2 way roads

• The theory: – 2 way roads slow down cars, encourage stop &

shop rather than drive through the downtown– Make things safer for pedestrian foot traffic• Many of whom are students or families for weekend

events

Downtown Events

• All events take place in Harmony Square– Frosty Fest– Movie Night in the Square

• Every Thursday in the summer

– Skating & A Movie• Movie shown in the public library

– Chilli Willy Cook-off– Car Shows– Friday Night Bands in the Square
