mustafina was first to compete at worlds triple y and chow half and yurchenko half on full off but she share this with another gymnast (saparbaeva, yao and nabieva) melitinastanioutas : elss23 : I think this is a curse ? Like three time ?? Please can we make possible to give at an elements the name of two gymnasts ??? remember aliya was training the chow 1/2 in pt during 2011 and probably was going to do it in tokyo but we know what happened… and then at the beggining of 2012 chinese tv made a piece of yao submitting it at the olympics and they showed her and her coaches like filling up the paper work and yao seemed super excited and… well both did it and then aliya was doing triple Ys before london too, but then she could hardly put the double around there (did she even submit it there?) and she didnt do it in atwerp either. so moral of the story, do it when u have it competition ready. unless u r simone biles and its a totally crazy skill that nobody else can do I honestly find it so stupid that they don’t name it the Mustafina-Yao, Mustafina- Nabieva, etc. because that’s what they do in MAG and I don’t understand why they don’t do the same for WAG, like, what’s the difference? he chow 1/2 is called a yao Actually it isn’t. I understand Yao’s coaches submitted the skill to be named after her but at the time both Mustafina and her were performing the skill (not sure who did it first) so it didn’t get named. Some gymfans call it the Yaostafina but this is of course unofficial. Yes, there was even a news segment on some chinesse channel that showed they were planning to submit the skill in london. There’s a lot of paper work to submit a new skill, like not only do it in a routine and say OH YAY NEW SKILL, i think they have to submit videos, the description, drawing (the line thing) then also do it in podium training and in competition (OG, YOG or worlds), so before getting the skill named they know on what group of skills

Actually it isn’t.

There’s a lot of paper work to submit a new skill, like not only do it in a routine and say OH YAY NEW SKILL, i think they have to submit videos, the description, drawing (the line thing) then also do it in podium training and in competition (OG, YOG or worlds), so before getting the skill named they know on what group of skills it belongs and the difficulty of the element. These happens before the big competition too, Mustafina was doing her dismount before Worlds 2010 and she got credited for it, like in Euros that same year, the skill was already evaluated by the FIG and got a E difficulty, but it only got named after her because she did it at Worlds and fulfilled all the requirements for naming the skill.

I dont know if the russians also did all the paper work and stuff for the Chow 1/2, but since both were doing it, it didn’t get named after Yao, because you need to be the only one that’s performing it in the event.

Plus, we also know that the FIG isn’t known by getting the named skills right

I love that everyone can already call the Rio Team over a year out...a lot can happen between when this video was filmed to even Classics of next year (when you can actually start to begin to consider who's a contender). Love Ashton but I her body doesn't seem to handle the rigours of elite gymnastics.  There's no way Marta takes her just because of one event- unless she can win gold (like Maroney). Gabby wasn't in the conversation at this point before London...and look what happened.  She has a lot of time to work upgrades- considering her last quad, she surely understands the importance of pacing and timing.  So, everybody relax and enjoy the ride. And as for Komova...shoulda, coulda, woulda.
