society because it creates all of the formulas that make machines, electricity and more.

Now, people have knowledge about the Sun, moon, stars, and planets thanks to Muslim astronomers.

Hospitals• Hospitals were first established by Muslims. Each hospital was designed to

promote health, cure diseases, and teach doctors. Hospitals help cure the diseased now too and save many people each day.

Book Making• Book making was introduced by Chinese artisans. This made books more available

to people. Now, books are used to teach, or to read for fun.

Banking System• The Muslim banking system created checks. This helps people all over the world

handle their money.

Herbal Medicines and Pharmacies• Herbal medicines and pharmacies in the Islamic empire helped find sedatives and

medicines to help cure diseases. This helps in today’s society because people have found cures for diseases based on Muslim methods.

Zoology• Muslim lifestyle was dependent on animals, so the Muslims were interested in

learning more about them. Now, people know about animals and how to help preserve their habitats and help to keep species from going extinct.

Irrigation and Wells• Irrigation and wells were important to the Muslims because water was scarce in

the desert. The Muslims perfected the waterwheel, too. This helps today’s society because now, people need to use the methods the Muslims used to use and preserve the water in America.

House of Wisdom• The house of wisdom was an educational institute in Baghdad, where scholars

from all over the world came and taught. The house of wisdom saved some Greek classics that we earn about oday.

Chess• Chess was introduced to the Muslims by the Persians. It became very popular

among the Muslims because of the difficulty. Today chess is played all over the world for fun and competiton.
