THE UNIVERSAL MUSIC SOURCE. CONVERTS ANY INPUT INTO DSD. The musicbook DSD is a versatile signal source which, in addition to digital and analogue inputs, also offers a USB audio input and a Bluetooth re-ceiver. Depending on the model, the musicbook DSD can also be fitted with a network player and a CD drive. Music playback in the DSD format is possible over the network player and via the USB interface. As a matter of principle, DSD data are processed on a native level in the musicbook DSD, hence without converting them into PCM. Only that way this format can unfold its true potential. More-over the musicbook DSD can convert ALL digital in-

put signals into DSD using a re-sampling process and convert them into analog as DSD signal. Alter-natively the options of native reproduction (with-out processing) and re-sampling into PCMx2x4x8 (352.8 kHz or 384 kHz, also called DXD) are availa-ble. The musicbook DSD is an entirely new device: USB interface, Bluetooth interface, D/A converter, analogue preamp and headphone amplifier were completely redesigned in the course of the past year. That said, the musicbook DSD easily out-performs its predecessor models – in terms of features AND sound!

Please read about the novelties in detail:

USB interface: All models feature a USB interface with Ultra HD

resolution which runs in asynchronous mode and allows PCM up to 384

kHz and DSD up to DSD 256 (4-fold DSD, native mode) to be played

back. An ultra-stable DPLL clock ensures ultimate reproduction quality

with extremely low jitter.

Bluetooth module: All models are now equipped with a high-end

Bluetooth module of the latest generation that supports both aptX and

AAC. Coupled with a smartphone or tablet to support these formats,

a maximum sound quality in wireless operation is guaranteed. Ideally

suitable to play back music from a tablet (e.g. by using the smartphone

app of a streaming service).

Streaming module: The firmware and the app have both been

reworked and improved in many functions. Beside the young “stream-

ing services“ feature (at present TIDAL, others will follow) the most im-

portant novelty is that music in DSD format (.dff and .dsf) can now be

played back from the network. All you need is a DSD capable server

software like e.g. Twonky 8.2.

D/A converter: For the digital signal path of the musicbook DSD

we have explored new avenues. We employ the latest parts from Jap-

anese audio specialist AKM which, when compared directly to other

products, do not only sound audibly more transparent and natural, but

also set a new metrological benchmark. The AK 4490 converter ele-

ments are utilised in dual differential mono mode and support native

DSD playback up to DSD 256. A special highlight is the new AK 4137

re-sampling chip which can handle the conversion of PCM into DSD,

thereby clearing the way for even better sound from all digital sourc-

es. Especially music with standard CD resolution (FLAC 44.1) benefits

greatly in terms of sound quality.

Preamp: Likewise the integrated analogue preamp has also been

completely revised and adapted to the requirements of optimum DSD

reproduction. For the analogue volume level control we use one of the

best components ever, the MUSES 72320. In contrast to a digital vol-

ume control, its analogue counterpart has the crucial edge that also

low-level signals are transmitted without any losses in the best sound

quality. The high-current capable output stages can drive headphones

above 32 ohms in class A mode. Last, but not least we have developped

a “diamond“ buffer circuitry that works fully without negative feedback,

offers a very high bandwidth and sets new standards in terms of sound

quality.

The musicbook DSD is available in 4 versions. All models are equipped

with an analogue pre-amp and volume control, a class A headphone

amp, a USB audio interface (max. 384 kHz, DSD 256), a Bluetooth aptX

receiver, 4 digital and 2 analogue inputs.

Optionally Lindemann offers a high-quality CD drive and a stream-

ing module which leaves nothing to be desired: convenient operation

via the musicbook app, streaming of DSD files, with TIDAL access to

40 mio. tracks in CD quality, web radio and podcasts, individual multiple

playlists and much more.
