Música es por Musa is a project of the artist Macarena Rojas that studies the relationship between music and the visual language. The exhibition is the result of a particular interest in understanding the effect of music in the brain, the abstract and emotional meanings that generate listening music and the languages that have been developed to encode and play music. Rojas have approached to the scientific and technological discourse of music with a non specialized method. Just as a mathematical discipline, music has a logical structure which enables to build and therefore decode. The musicians displayed the musical structure represented in space through a specific language: the musical notation. Lacking musical literacy, the artist seeks to understand the music from a visual perspective, decoding the sound into visual formulas created by herself. To do this, Rojas has invented his own musical notation. A system of musical notes that is then played by musicians and recorded in audio. Also, the artist has developed a mechanism by which observers can participate in the process of musical creation, playing a diagram / score drawn on images of outer space. Visitors can thus move his hands to create music using a Theremin (an electronic device that generates musical tones of vary frequencies in response to movement), movements are translated into sounds that refer to science fiction films and therefore evoke the sense of mystery that space and science have for us. The association of images and sounds has been a constant in the scientific development, but with the latest technological innovations this link has become even more evident.

In Listening, Rojas creates a musical score composed by diagrams, in which she uses numbers, lines, arrows and written indications to deliver a continuous sound piece then played by a musician that is then recorded into audio to be listened inside the installation.
