Theory and Application

ZIG-ZAG SCALES are good exercises to do for developing your finger

dexterity, and also because they occur quite often in tunes. Start slowly, reading

the notation, and gradually try to increase the tempo and do it without looking at the music.

A slip jig is a fast Irish soft-shoe stepdance

which is danced to jigs of 9/8 signature. Its equivalent in Highland dancing is

the Scottish Lilt.
