Music Magazine Research

Luke KennyMusic Magazine ResearchColourThese two magazines are very different in terms of colour. Jazz magazine has a darker, black-and-white kind of look to it (with a small bit of colour here and there), whilst the Kerrang! Magazine is far more colourful and has many more pictures. Which one is better comes down to what someone is looking for. If theyre looking for something more colourful, then they would choose Kerrang. If theyre looking for something more sophisticated, then they would go for Jazz magazine

FontsThe fonts in music magazines vary throughout all the different genres of music magazine. The fonts in pop magazines (for example, NME) look big, bold but nothing too extreme, whereas font in modern rock magazines (such as Kerrang!) are also big and bold, but the font used looks very rough and beat-up almost aggressive-looking

ImageThe images in these two magazines are very different. Both of them are taken from different angles and both possess different colours and styles. I personally think the Q one is better because the Vibe one seems a bit like a generic camera shot, whist the one on Q has a bit more diversity and isnt so generic and boring.

LayoutThere are several different aspects in these two magazine covers that show differences in terms of layout the masthead of the two magazines are in the same place, but they both bear differences. The puff on each magazine is in completely different places as is the main headline and the smaller headlines. I personally prefer the Q layout, because it looks much neater than the layout of the other magazine.
