Effects of 1950’s music• The 1950s was a time of change in the United

States following World War II. Racial tensions were being strained with the beginning of the Civil Rights movement.

• Elvis helped to bring the two races together by popularizing “black” music.

• This decade was a time of innovation that helped to influence everything that we listen to on the radio today.
