BUILDING CONFIDENCE, INTEGRITY & EXCELLENCE
Our aim is to provide an enjoyable and challenging
environment in which girls can experience a wide
choice of both contemporary and traditional
music on a formal and informal basis. Belonging to a
music group will help your daughter make new friends,
grow in confidence, and develop her musicianship. In
this leaflet you will find details of this programme,
including the major events in next year’s school music
calendar. We look forward to welcoming your daughter
into our department and seeing you at one of
our forthcoming events.
The Music Department at Sir William Perkins’s School provides opportunities for girls, from beginners to the more advanced performers, to take part in a rich and varied programme of musical activities
ChoirsYEAR 7 CHOIR
All Year 7 girls belong to this choir. The
emphasis is on enjoying making music
together and learning to perform in public.
It’s traditional for the Year 7 Choir to sing in
our two school carol services in December.
Directed by Miss Tham, this choir rehearses on
Monday lunchtimes in the Jarvis Room.
CHAMBER CHOIR
This is our choir for advanced singers. Entry is
by audition. The Chamber Choir is directed by
Mrs Hull and rehearses on Mondays after
school in the Jarvis Room. Members of the
Chamber Choir will once again join the
Goldsmith Choral Union at the Royal Albert
Hall in December to perform Handel’s
‘Messiah’. In March the Chamber Choir and
guests will be performing Mozart’s ‘Requiem’,
accompanied by the Chamber Orchestra.
SCHOOL CHOIR
This choir meets in the Jarvis Room on
Tuesday and Wednesday lunchtimes and is
for all girls interested in part-singing and
performing classical, pop and musical theatre
songs. No audition is required. The choir is
directed by Miss Tham.
