MEISNER AND FILMFOR TEENS & ADULTSSanford Meisner famously developed the technique that bears his name. His approach involves structured improvisational exercises that build on each other to bring the actor to a more instinctive performance level. Classes focus on exercises in simple repetition, active listening and interaction, as well as independent activities and character analysis. Advanced exercises combine these elements to shape layered performances. All classes are taught based on student skills.APRIL 8, 15, 29; MAY 6, 13, 20; JUNE 3, 10, 17

TUESDAYS ADULTS, TEENS & KIDS:PRIME TIME TV & FILM This comprehensive course covers on-camera acting techniques, including cold readings and scene study for sitcoms like Big Bang Theory, primetime serials like Stranger Thingsand audition preparation round out the coverage. Completion of one Prime Time TV & Film class is a prerequisite for our Film and Television Actor’s Showcase, where selected students perform scenes live and on camera for industry guests. ROCKIT! ACADEMYThe Rockit! Academy, our resident rock and roll performance program, is helmed by the
organization. Rockit runs four, six-week programs
repertoire of songs supplemented with individual instruction. At the conclusion of the experience, as many as 45 young musicians form separate groups and perform live on the Basie Center stage. Vocalists, drummers, guitarists, bassists, keyboardists, brass and string players are encouraged to complement their private studies with our collaborative program!

JAZZ ARTS ACADEMYThe Jazz Arts Academy at the Basie is a partnership with Red Bank’s Jazz
events and music education programs. The Jazz Arts Academy is a year-round comprehensive training program providing real world experience to aspiring teen jazz musicians. The faculty includes world-class working professional recording artists who are also dedicated educators. Jazz Arts Project also produces several dozen events each year ranging from intimate jazz cafe nights to large-scale events at concert halls and festivals.Jazz Arts Academy programs take place on the Basie Center’s Monmouth Conservatory campus, located at 65 Chestnut Street in Red Bank.
