A Bird’s Melody!

Desi Martz 8th!!Lovely is the whistle of a bird and its tune!

Natural the rhythm does come! And the birds peaceful song in June!Is sweeter than the plumpest plum!Music lifts the spirit then saddens it !

Beats bring out the wild inside! It lights up a light and keeps it lit!

For the melody has lived and died!Inspiration is a flood and a few will drown !Have you not seen what is around you?!The note, the pitch, the chant, the sound! Will surely make your dreams come true!

Songs inspire you to shoot for the sky !They move you but are bigger,

they make you try!

What Freedom Means to Me Claire Townsend 7th !Freedom is the red white and blue The summertime pool The afternoon sun The happy Christmas morning The family gathered close The songs that we sing That joy that we have It’s all because of freedom And I am so glad !But freedom isn’t always free It’s not always happy There’s courageous people Who make it all happen The battle field blood The sorrow and pain The families that loose a loved one It’s all because of freedom here in our country !We’re the land of the free Because we’re the home of the brave So next time you smile Next time you sing Next time remember and hear freedom ring

!!Calgary

Scott Portsche 7th !

The cold breeze touches my face,

Abnormal snow flakes fall from the freezing

heavens, This constant weather makes

the city brace, During night city lights make it

very pretty, But at the crack of dawn the city

speaks, It speaks of a busy commute, !

The mountain ranges stand watching over this city,

And animals anxiously appear to adore it, A prairie stands along the city limits,

Where buffalo roam and graze, Many buildings tower over apartments,

Where the sun cannot blaze, !What a wonderful town this is,

Where nature blooms and blossoms, But of course you have to really visit there yourself,

Or else you won't feel the magic.

Angels Kinley Roberts 6th

!I believe in angels,

The kind that,

Heaven sends

I’m surrounded

By angels,

But I call them

Friends.

Snow Peyton Baldwin 8th

White fluffs of snow fall from above,

I feel the kiss of ice as one lands on my cheek.

They fall with silence

Refusing to make a noise

The wind soon joins and blows

I lose my way and can not see

Winter’s weapon of cold force

Snow is both beautiful and mysterious

Why Do I Sing? Peyton Baldwin 8th !

It's the pounding of my heart, As I walk on stage. The butterflies in my stomach, Start to flutter away. I try to pretend I am all alone, I close my eyes and I'm at home. But when I look into the crowd And see hundreds of people staring back, I take a deep breath and I...... Free myself from my anxiety, I let everything I am feeling go. When I sing I don't think. It feels like I am in a dream, That none of this is happening. When I finish and hold out the last note, The crowd erupts like a volcano in applause. I give a smile and hold back what I feel, I don't sing because I love the stage, I don't sing just because I can. I sing because when I do, I am lifted away, Singing brings me joy that I have never felt before, When I sing I feel like I belong.

Wind Francesca Hiserote 8th

!Poetry is the wind

It takes the reader far away Colourful details follow right beside It can leave all those who read it In a whirlwind of emotions It can swoop one to their greatest fantasy Or whisk them to their greatest fear Words might appear as if they are swiftly swirling In an angry vortex of alliteration

It has a rhythmic beat As does the wind up against the tree

Leaves are thrown from forest trees As the last line in the poem

Draws an end to the storm

To My Mother Peyton Baldwin 8th !You have been with me since the start. You know me like no other, And taught me true beauty comes from the heart. You picked me up when I fell down, And held my hand when the road was rough. Together we have traveled all around, You comfort me when life is tough. To all the moms out there, Who sit on the sidelines at all our games. And show the deepest love and compassion. Moms are proud of who they became, You show us how to have fun. Every day and every night, You inspire us to be who we want. My greatest hero and that is true, Moms all over, we love you.
